~ Solego's last words before his defeat.
Solego the Chaos God is the main antagonist of the TaleSpin, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Ranger, Goof Troop, DuckTales, and Darkwing Duck crossover comic book. He also made a cameo in the 2017 Ducktales episode "Let's Get Dangerous".
Originally a sorcerer from long ago, Solego gained immortality and ruled the world with unmatched terror. A young wizard named D'Shane eventually defeated Solego and were sealed away for if the crystal and medallion were ever reunited, Solego would be restored.
TaleSpin[]
During Baloo's usual routine of fighting Don Karnage and his sky pirates, a gold necklace with a red crystal attached flies out of one of the crates. While he and company are visiting the archeologist and his son involved, it is when the so-called "Chaos God" that was responsible for the annihilation of the entire civilization of Rakkinroon centuries ago. As Rebbecca was getting to work, she witnesses the gem from earlier fall out of the barrel it was contained in when Solego announces his presence and names her his host in order to return to the mortal realm he was expelled from. He then forces her to wear the necklace. As Solego makes her fly the Sea Duck, he reveals that he was sealed in the gem and intends to find the gold setting to fit it with the crystal to break his seal. He also has ambitions of world conquest. When Baloo tries to get on with the kids in tow, Solego proceeds to make her try and shake them off, with her daughter Molly at risk of losing her grip.
This prompts Kit to use his cloud-kicking device to glide in the air to ensure her safety with Baloo helping them get on the plane. But they were still in danger as Solego tries to fully possess Rebecca who struggle to remove the gem from her neck with Molly helping her succeed. Baloo flies the plane over the ocean with Kit dropping the ruby in the ocean, but this was not the end of Solego.
Chip 'N' Dale: Rescue Rangers[]
The crystal eventually gets swallowed by a fish and possesses one of the fishermen that caught it in a net along with other fish it vomits the jewel into his hands. The fisherman manages to get the gem into a cardboard box and rushes from the museum after leaving it there. Later at night, the Rescue Rangers spy on Mepps and Mole as they infiltrate a museum when the Fat Cat goons break in. We also see the Gold Setting Solego wanted to use to break his seal. On his boss's orders, Mepps cuts a hole in the glass case containing the Gold Setting.
Gadget tries to trigger the alarm but instead triggers the sprinkler system, prompting Fat Cat to give the order to get the Gold Setting before the security arrives. As the Rescue Rangers proceed to try and stop Fat Cat's escape, Gadget causes Fat Cat to lose his grip on the medallion. However, she ends up in the cardboard box containing the ruby holding Solego, becoming a new host for him. Incidentally, Fat Cat gets sprayed with ink causing Solego to lose his hold on Gadget who stops Dale from touching the ruby or rather the red crystal, having realized the evil contained within it. But Dale got in contact with it anyway, leading to him getting possessed.
Using a rubber band to bind the crystal to Dale and ensure his possession, Solego uses tissue paper to make an improvised parachute with the chipmunk's friends in pursuit. However, Fat Cat's gang got away with the Golden Setting with the possessed Dale managing to pursue him.
Fat Cat serves to unwittingly delay Solego's escape by scaling a T-rex skeleton when the fiend manages to make it collapse before Mepps swipes the medallion just as Solego was going to touch it. This prompts the Rangers to pursue Solego to stop him from reuniting with the medallion and breaking the seal.
In spite of their efforts, Fat Cat finds himself in possession of the ruby which lets Solego possess him and try slot the crystal in the gold setting only to get shocked in the attempt. At the Rescue Ranger base, Chip asks Edgar to fly from their vicinity as far as he can and then drop it somewhere where it can never be found again. He also asks Edgar to drop the medallion in the sewer.
Goof Troop[]
Later on, when Edgar was flying over the highway in search of a sewer to drop the crystal, his exhaustion causes him to drop the bag holding it, leading it to pop out and fly into the grill of a car driven by Pete as he is driving back to his Spoonersville home to surprise his wife. As Pete's wife arrives to look at the car, Goofy notices something strange as electricity pours out from the grill where Solego's crystal got caught. As Goofy gets smacked by one of the hands, he tries to voice his concerns regarding the car as there was something fishy, but Pete ignores him before driving off.
Later at night, Solego, having possessed the car, manipulates one of the wires in order to snag the key to the ignition. But ends up messing with Goofy's tv where he hears the news about injuries and the Chaos God Medallion's disappearance. Goofy spots the wire Solego tried to get the keys with and realizes the danger posed as Solego plans to get to Duckburg. Goofy starts banging on the door to Pete's house to alert him of what is going to happen. Just as Pete answered, Solego uses the robot arms to grab Pete in an attempt to snag the key to the car. Goofy tries various solutions from monster movies, but none of them stop Solego from capturing them and trapping them inside the car.
With the key, Solego has the car drive off a cliff, forcing Pete and Goofy to jump out at the last second before they could fall to their deaths. With the car busted from the fall, Solego uses a still intact phone to impersonate Scrooge McDuck and contact a towing service in order to get out of this fix and continue looking for the medallion.
Ducktales (1987)[]
Thanks to the unwitting tow truck driver, Solego finally reached Duckberg where the Medallion was held. Fenton inspects the car Scrooge was angry to see parked on his property when Solego uses his powers to hypnotize Fenton into pulling it out. Solego then makes him summon the Gizmo Duck armor before forcing him out of it. After a close encounter with Scrooge's nephews, he does a U-turn upon realizing the money bin was the other way.
He proceeds to burst into the money bin in search of the Medallion, but even if it turned out it was not there, he still remembers how fun it was to wreck stuff while threatening to kill Scrooge if he does not bring the medallion. When armed men arrive to stop Solego, he proceeds to blow the wall down and escape the cops.
Prof. Bisk Potsherd visits Scrooge to explain who Solego is. A powerful sorcerer who conquered various cities until he discovered the magic that made him immortal. He then proceeded to destroy the Rakkinroon Civilization and all who opposed him. This led to D'Shane, a wizard of this civilization, to create the crystal that sealed Solego away with the aid of a knight who defected the sorcerer's power back at him to imprison him. The crystal was then separated from its gold setting with Solego's mind in the former and his powers in the latter, thus the Chaos God cannot escape unless both artifacts are reunited. Just then, Scrooge explains he sent the Gold Setting to be cleaned in St. Canard. As Solego continues to hunt for the Gold Setting, he proceeds to test every weapon in the Gizmo suit, musing he will be more powerful than ever once he completely frees himself from his seal.
Darkwing Duck[]
It is then that he realized where the Gold Setting had been and is now aiming to insert the crystal inside it to break his seal and begin his conquest. Darkwing is promptly commissioned by the leader of S.H.U.S.H. to pick up the necklace from the jewelers when Fenton takes the duo to see what's going on in town. Just then, Solego beat them to the jewelry store and threatened the owner with death if he does not surrender the medallion. The man complied before Darkwing intervenes in this heist. Solego responds by launching a punching glove at him to rid himself of the interference as he inserts the crystal into the gold setting to free himself.
He then proceeds to terrorize the city folk with his powers as they run for safety with a handful of the objects used looking like they could kill people. He calls it his personal army and proceeds to animate a couple of lion statues to be sicced on Darkwing. He proceeds to blast Fenton when he helps Darkwing and turns Launchpad into chopped liver. He then proceeds to hunt down Darkwing like an animal and corners him with a satellite dish. It is here that Solego has lost interest in challenging mortals and declares that all mortals in the world will die like sheep killed by a wolf.
He attempted to send a blast to Darkwing only for it to be deflected back at him when it hit a satellite dish. Thus, he was sealed once again with Launchpad being reverted back and the Gizmo Armor being rebuilt. The artifacts were attached to the jade block which was then locked away in a safe to be buried beneath the treasures of Scrooge McDuck.
Appearance[]
In the comic he originated in, Solego appeared as a green lizard with red eyes and green scales. He donned an orange sorcerer's outfit.
In his Ducktales (2017) cameo, he is instead dressed in a lab coat with a shirt adorned with a bowtie. He also has visible hair and eyebrows.
Powers and Abilities[]
In the comics he appeared in, Solego was capable of launching beams from his hands. When mentioned in the 2017 adaptation of Ducktales, he had been a mad thinker who created a circuit named after himself.
