Mongers are villains who promote specific activities, situations and/or feelings that can be undesirable, infelicitous and discreditable to the public masses. Whether it be through fear, hatred and/or conflicts (mostly war), they peddle it to get what they want. The worst kinds are generally those who do it for fun or pretend to care about others in order to envoke sympathy. Through any of these means, these villains pose a serious threat to the characters in the stories they are in.

There are many types of Mongers in fiction, but the arguably most common types are:

• Warmongers: People who propagate war to advance sinister agendas or simply for the sake of it. Many Warmongers tend to be Warlords; Weapons Dealers can qualify if they sell to warring factions. Examples include Madara Uchiha, Ri Boku, Erich Ludendorff, Major, Ares and Colonel Otto. Their Opposites are Pacifists
• Fearmongers: People who go out of their way to instill fear in others; they usually exist to make people afraid. Fearmongering is also a tactic used by tyrannical rulers or oppressive governments in order to keep populations in check. Some fearmongers are also xenophobes who use fear and prejudice to make others dislike a particular group/race and possibly blame said race for their own crimes. Examples include Scarecrow, Gil Yepes, Dawn Bellwether, Gaston LeGume, Betelgeuse, Emperor Belos, Ardelia Lortz and Digby Driver.
• Hatemongers: People much like Fearmongers, except they go out of their way to spread or bring out hatred. This is a tactic used by real-life groups such as the Nazi Party and Ku Klux Klan to spread hateful views and encourage others to commit crimes against certain racial groups. Examples include Shadowy Figure, Dazzlings and Hotshot TV Producer.
