Having never booked the field trip he promised the kids, Chef has to manufacture a full day of delays on the bus trip to avoid getting to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land.
Plot[]
At the Daycare, Duncan, Harold, Izzy, and Leshawna cheer for Owen to finish eating a raw onion. At first, Owen hesitates, but then he eats the onion, which causes the kids to cheer as it is revealed that Chef promised that if the kids ate all of their veggies for the whole month, he would take them on a field trip to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land, and since they did, Chef pulls out tickets and tells the kids to get in the bus. However, in a confessional, Chef explains that the tickets are fake and he was never going to take them there, but he came up with a plan: if the kids misbehave during the trip, he can cancel it and blame the kids instead.
As the bus leaves, the kids begin to act up, and Chef tells them to be quiet or he will turn the bus around. The kids stop and sit quietly, which surprises Chef, as he pretends to be happy that they stopped acting up, but he still doesn't want to take them to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land. Wanting to stall for time, Chef lies that they are nearly out of gas (with the tank actually being half full) and haven't seen a gas station, but Owen spots one, and Chef pretends not to listen, which results in the kids throwing an anchor out of the bus to stop it. Wanting to continue stalling, Chef tells the kids he lost his wallet and is unable to pay for the gas, but Leshawna and Harold come up with an idea: to sell the unwanted parts of the bus to pay for the gas, which they manage to do.
As they continue to head out, Izzy asks Chef if they are there yet, and to Chef's surprise, she only asks once. Worried that his plan isn't working, Chef decides to take a small detour of their field trip by taking them to a Knot Museum, and at first, they start to groan, only for Chef to remind them about cancelling the trip, and the kids decide to take the tour. After nearly an hour on the tour, Chef is worried that the kids haven't acted up and tries to figure out a way to stop them. Chef tries to encourage Duncan to misbehave by removing the knot from the rope after he notices an anvil over the tour guide's head, but Duncan refuses since he believes that by doing so, he will prevent them from going to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land. However, the tour guide gives Duncan permission to undo the knot, which he gladly does but noticed that he can't undo the knot, as the tour guide reveals that the knot is the legendary Quadruple Jambalaya Knot, one of the hardest knots to untie. As the kids try to undo it, Chef tells them that until they could untie it, they couldn't leave, but the tour guide tells them they had to leave due to another group coming, as it seems that the museum is popular.
Back on the bus, a sign for Happy Sunshine Good Time Land is seen, and while the kids are excited, Chef is worried, but when he sees MacArthur, now a postal worker, in trouble due to her mail truck having a flat tire, he told them that they needed to help her, no matter how long it will take. Upon learning that she needs to deliver all of her packages before the end of the day, the kids came up with the idea of using Owen's undies as a slingshot and shoot all the packages to their destinations, which they did. As MacArthur thanked them, she informs them that she needs to get to her doctor's appointment, and using Owen's undies, launched her to the hospital.
With them only mere moments from Happy Sunshine Good Time Land and out of options, Chef decided to do something stupid by taking a "shortcut" through the woods, only to drive over a cliff. As the kids all scream from the fall, Chef decided to come clean and revealed that he was never going to take the kids to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land, as he never suspected them to eat all their veggies and they he actually had his wallet with him (which he drew a unicorn on it and nicknamed it Stanley) and when he asked them if they forgive him, all of the kids are shown to be angry (with Duncan having a pair of boxing gloves) but the one who was more angry was Owen due to him having to eat all those veggies and the raw onion from earlier today, but Leshawna reminded them about Chef driving over the cliff (which is shown to be the steepest cliff ever) and need to figure out a way to save themselves. Harold and Duncan then came up with a plan, using their free pieces of rope from the museum and create their own Quadruple Jambalaya Knot, which stopped the bus from falling to the bottom, saving themselves.
Chef is impressed that the kids (who are still mad at Chef for lying to them) actually created the Quadruple Jambalaya Knot, but he wondered how they get back up. Izzy suggested using Owen's undies as a slingshot, but Owen revealed that the elastic bands are worn out, However Harold then suggest using the bus fan belt instead, which they did. With all the kids now back up Chef then asked them to help him get up. The kids are torn as they are still upset that Chef lied to them about Happy Sunshine Good Time Land but realize they can get in trouble if he doesn't help him, but Duncan came up with a counter pitch, using Chef's wallet (which he stole earlier) they will treat themselves by going to Happy Sunshine Good Time Land and after they have their fun, will return back to get him. As Izzy, Harold and Leshawna agreed, Owen suggest they leave him something to eat as they leave. Back at the bottom, Chef sees a raw onion and realizes that this is payback for making the kids eat their veggies and lying to them. The episode ends with Chef eating the onion while crying.
