Shinichiro's First Time Leap occurred on July 30, 2003 from the present to the past.

Introduction

In the original timeline, Shinichiro Sano found himself in a position in which his younger brother, Manjiro Sano, became paralyzed due to the plane incident, when Manjiro fell down the stairway whilst playing with a toy plane. Following the plane incident and Manjiro’s paralysis, Shinichiro did everything in his power to heal Manjiro, though his efforts proved fruitless in the end. Manjiro died around four years after the plane incident, frail and unable to do anything about his situation. Around the time of Manjiro’s death, during a chance meeting with Wakasa Imaushi, in which the two of them visited a club, Shinichiro overheard talk of a man who successfully was able to time leap. Shinichiro, in his depressed state, due to Manjiro’s recent death, spoke to the drunken people discussing time travel, despite Wakasa’s protests to do otherwise. Shinichiro then proceeded to ask around for any talk of time travel, desperately searching for someone who could help him, and eventually came across an old man who claimed to have time leapt. Shinichiro grilled the old man for information, sure that the man was delirious, and, in a last ditch attempt, killed the man in order to ensure that his time leaping ability would transfer over.

Plot

Following Shinichiro’s murder of the supposed time leaper, he, swallowed by his guilt at having murdered someone, jumped off of a bridge, into the water, sure that the river would kill him. Instead of winding up dead, however, Shinichiro wound up four years in the past, to the day that the plane incident happened, with Manjiro alive and well. Notably, Haruchiyo Sanzu, who was there to witness Shinichiro’s jumping off the bridge, along with Shinichiro, recalled the original timeline in which Manjiro died, making him the trigger that would allow Shinichiro to time leap subsequently.
