Viola is a former patient at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital who got stuck in the ER during a viral outbreak and quarantine.

Season 2[]
In "Quarantine," Viola visits the hospital to get an injured hand treated before a deadly viral outbreak quarantines the ER, trapping Viola inside while her husband is outside. Viola is forced to talk to her husband through a glass door and attempts to remain calm with the other people trapped inside of the quarantine as the two initial patients and Tyler Durness dies and Dr. Audrey Lim becomes sick. After Kellan Park suffers an asthma attack, everyone in the waiting room becomes panicked at the thought that Kellan has become infected and Dr. Shaun Murphy collapses from sensory overload.
In "Quarantine: Part Two," after things are calmed down, Shaun notices that Viola's water has broken while checking on everyone. Shaun starts to become overwhelmed again while treating patients, but Dr. Alex Park breaks the light causing him distractions, ending Shaun's issues. Shaun later performs an examination on Viola with Kellan's help, leading the three to discuss Shaun's collapse and Kellan's family issues. As Viola's labor continues, she suffers complications and Shaun is forced to perform a C-section on Viola as his first solo surgery with only Nurse Deena Petringa for help and guided by Dr. Garcia from outside. Though they are able to deliver the baby, he is not breathing and Viola begins hemorrhaging as Shaun tries to save her child. With Viola bleeding out, Garcia directs Shaun to abandon the baby and focus on saving Viola, but Shaun instead enlists Kellan's help to perform CPR on the child. Shaun manages to stabilize Viola who remains conscious throughout the procedure and saves her baby thanks to Kellan keeping him alive long enough for Shaun to stabilize Viola.
After the quarantine ends, Shaun passes Viola who is sharing her joy with her husband over their newborn child.
