Tyler Durness is an emergency medical technician at St. Bonaventure Hospital who has contracted a deadly airborne virus.

Tyler Durness was an EMT who became infected by the respiratory virus during the quarantine at St. Bonaventure Hospital. He contracted it from one of the patients he was bringing into the hospital from the airport . Whilst in treatment, he was obviously attracted to Dr. Morgan Reznick, with whom he flirts and sets up future dates. Unfortunately, he entered respiratory distress and died, despite Morgan and Dr. Audrey Lim‘s efforts to treat him. Morgan later discovers that Tyler's mask was ripped, meaning that he most likely got the virus from splattered blood or something similar and the virus is not airborne. Having genuinely cared for Tyler, Morgan is left devastated by his death, but manages to save Lim from the same fate. Morgan later watches with tears in her eyes as Tyler's body is taken away by the CDC. In the aftermath of the quarantine, Morgan blackmails Claire Browne into spending time with her before admitting that she is still struggling with the loss of Tyler, causing Claire to agree to let Morgan help Claire with her mother.
