"Rebellion" is the eighth episode of Season 5 of The Good Doctor. It is the eighty-fourth episode overall, and aired on February 28, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Now that Shaun has called off the wedding, he is forced to confront Lea about their relationship and determine what he really means to her. Meanwhile, the team debate their opinions on plastic surgery and Dr. Audrey Lim hopes to expose Salen’s cover-up over an infant’s death to take her down before it is too late.[1]
Plot[]
Following the events of the baby's death and Shaun calling off the wedding, Shaun has been sleeping on the couch. It's early morning and he's sitting up on the couch, staring into space. In her apartment, Audrey Lim is awake as well. Shaun rides the bus to work like he had done before dating Lea. While Audrey is running, it begins to rain. Alma cries over the loss of her baby.
Salen has a meeting with Shaun, Jordan Allen, Aaron Glassman, and Audrey to discuss the passing of the baby. Salen tells them she is doing a review about the pharmacy drugs to ensure the same situation doesn't happen twice. She wants the doctors to be discrete as they talk to the baby's mother as a lawsuit is always a possibility.
In the elevator, Aaron tells Audrey to not do whatever she is thinking of doing. He tries to sympathize with Audrey and warns her that Salen has more power and Audrey's career could suffer. Audrey doesn't care though and she tells Aaron that she plans to take Salen down.
Shaun is eating breakfast alone when Lea finds him. She wants to talk to Shaun about recent events and how he no longer wants to marry her. She wants to be there for Shaun but Shaun doesn't want Lea's help. Lea doesn't believe that Shaun has fallen out of love with her over one incident. Shaun says there were three incidents: lying about Montana, falsifying the scores, and refusing to come clean to Salen. Because of those reasons, Shaun can not marry Lea but Lea claims his reasoning don't make sense. She wants to work things out with Shaun but Shaun leaves instead of talking.
In the ER, a man who crashed into a tree is wheeled in. He is sad because a woman he was interested in just wants to be friends.
Morgan instructs a patient to take a seat but the patient can't because she had a Brazilian butt lift recently. The woman's butt lift is infected, which Morgan informs Marcus Andrews with Asher and Jordan in the room. The doctors have different opinions of the patient spending money to look nice.
Audrey approaches Lea and asks her to do a favor that Salen could do but Audrey claims she doesn't want to put more on Salen's plate. Lea doesn't believe Audrey but she agrees and will print the papers out so Salen has a harder time at tracing them.
Salen is in Alma's room and gives her condolences to Alma. She claims to not care about legal and she informs Alma of the situation that killed her baby; Salen puts the blame on the pharmacist saying he gave Shaun expired medicine. The pharmacist has resigned already because he feels bad. Salen tells her that Ethicure will cover Alma's medical expense and she's giving her 200k. Alma is then given an electronic document that requires her signature so, as Salen claims, the hospital can issue her payment. Alma signs the document without reading it.
The pharmacist has not resigned and, instead, is in a meeting with Salen where he expresses his anger. He told Salen what the consequences were likely to be if she went ahead with the changes but she ignored him. He believes she should be fired. He threatens to sue her but Salen isn't worried as she's sued and been sued by many and won. She tells him to negotiate but he wants his job but Salen won't give him the job as the death of the baby is being put on his shoulders. Instead, she wants him to sign an agreement that will keep his mouth shut about the situation. The pharmacist reluctantly signs the agreement.
Shaun is distracted while looking at a patient's x-rays. Alex Park asks if Shaun wants to talk about the event that took place in the pharmacy. Shaun doesn't as talking doesn't change anything.
Lea talks to Aaron about Shaun and how he refuses to talk to her. Aaron agrees to talk to Shaun about Lea.
The woman who turned down the man approaches Alex and Shaun. She wants them to tell him that she cares about him and is at the hospital. Shaun doesn't think it will make the man feel better but Alex promises to tell him.

- The song that plays during the first scene after the recap is "My Body Is A Cage" by Peter Gabriel, which in itself is a cover of a song by the indie rock band "Arcade Fire".
- Coincidentally this song also made an appearance in the House episode "Out of the Chute" towards the end which was a show also created by David Shore, creator of The Good Doctor.[2]
