Kara Kay is a contestant from Survivor: David vs. Goliath.
Early on, Kara found herself caught up in a showmance with Dan Rengering. However, her strong social relationships with most of the cast allowed her to travel deep into the game without being considered a target for the entirety of the season despite her close relations with both major alliances. Unfortunately, despite garnering zero votes the entire season, Kara fell one day short of the Final Tribal Council after failing to win the fire-making challenge on Day 38.

Age: 30
Hometown: San Diego
Current residence: San Diego
Occupation: Realtor
Hobbies: Friends (not the show, real people). Running/biking/yoga. Dancing/snowboarding.
Pet peeves: Drivers who use their brakes unnecessarily, oblivious people, and when anyone tells someone else how to live their life.
Three words to describe you: Energetic, persistent, and passionate.
What's your personal claim to fame? Making Charger Girls. I was Rookie of the Year, MVP in 2014 and a captain for two years.
Who or what is your inspiration in life? My mom always dropped wisdom. She was the epitome of what a mother should be to her kids. She was the perfect role model and practiced what she preached. Not to mention, she was hilarious and opinionated. Other people said she was just the classiest lady who everyone lived. I think she lived life so fully that God decided she was ready for heaven. She'll always be my hero.
If you could have three things on the island what would they be and why? The book The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer—it talks a lot about clearing your mind and that could be crucial. A mirror. Sounds vein, but could help make a fire plus it would be interesting to see who insists on looking in it. A deck of cards; can be used for entertainment as well as another form of character judgement.
Which Survivor contestant are you most like? Parvati Shallow because she's brilliant, she's flirtatious, and she won! Her alliances were well thought out and she made power plays at the right time. I would have a positive attitude and make connections like Figgy except I'd avoid getting into a showmance at all cost.
What's your reason for being on Survivor? To win one million dollars! It would be nice to help my dad get back on his feet for good; he ran a successful business until he lost it all in the recession. I helped support, but I could only do so much. I also want to step outside my comfort zone to prove I can do anything with the right mindset. This would really help carry out my mom's legacy and make her really proud. I would also love to have a down payment for a house. I live in San Diego, one of the hottest real estate markets... and it's expensive!
Why do you think you'll "survive" Survivor? I am relentless. I don't give up. I know how to get along and even make friends with all walks of life. I'm kind of a chameleon. I guess I'd consider myself pretty savvy and adept. I observe everything, yet have the ability to keep to myself if need be. I'm strong and focused, therefore could be a threat in challenges. Plus, I am not afraid to be cutthroat if I have to. In today's world, I think you'd call that savage. My social game would be impressive, plus I could win over the jury with game tactics and strategy.[2]
Survivor[]
Kara started on the Goliath tribe. In the first couple of days, she formed an alliance with Dan Rengering, Angelina Keeley and Natalia Azoqa and showmance with the former, and Dan told her about his Hidden Immunity Idol. While her showmance with Dan became known to the rest of the tribe, they were not targets due to Natalie Cole's personality and beef with Jeremy Crawford. When the Goliaths lost immunity on Day 9, Kara joined the tribe in unanimously voting out Jeremy.
Following the Tribe Switch, Kara, along with Natalia and Alec Merlino, were switched to the Vuku tribe and joined David members Davie Rickenbacker and Elizabeth Olson. On Vuku Kara bonded with Elizabeth much to Natalia's chagrin. Vuku lost the next Immunity Challenge. At Tribal Council Kara was shocked when Alec flipped and blindsided Natalia. Realizing she was on the bottom, Kara started throwing Alec's name under the bus in order to make him a target, but Elizabeth saw right though her. Vuku won the remaining challenges.
At the merge, Dan told Kara about his second idol, and she decided to stay Goliath strong. Following former Goliath John Hennigan's blindside however, Dan began losing his cool and lashing out which made Kara believe that Dan was becoming a liability to her game and that she had to get him out. At Tribal Council however, she didn't vote for him and even advised him to play his idol, but Dan was blindsided when former David Carl Boudreaux used his Idol Nullifier against Dan.
Kara managed to stay in a good position and not receive any votes against her for the rest of the game. She even managed to snag an Immunity Challenge win along the way. After losing the Final Immunity Challenge to former David Nick Wilson, Nick said that he would save Angelina, which meant both herself and former Goliath Mike White had to compete in the fire-making tiebreaker challenge. Kara practiced for the challenge. Despite managing to make fire twice while practicing, she ultimately lost the challenge to Mike, thus making her the final member of the jury.
At the Final Tribal Council, Kara had positive remarks for Angelina, Mike and Nick, although she gave Mike particular praise, noting he played the game like Kara herself wanted to but better. She voted for Mike who finished second to Nick in a 7-3-0 vote.

Post-Survivor[]
- A week after filming ended, David vs. Goliath Kara dated castmate Alec Merlino. Merlino posted a picture of himself and Kara together on Instagram with the caption, "F*** it". Having violated the contestants' non-disclosure agreement, Alec was uninvited to the David vs. Goliath finale and reunion show and his appearance fees were withheld. Kara's punishment (if any) was never disclosed.[3][4] They broke up prior to 2021, but got back together at some point in 2022.[5][6]
- Kara and Angelina made cameo appearances in Mike's television series White Lotus.[7]
Trivia[]
- Kara is the third castaway to be eliminated at Tribal Council despite not having a single vote for the entire season, after Paschal English from Marquesas and Cirie Fields from Game Changers. She is followed by Liz Wilcox in Survivor 46.
