Counterstrike was a roleplaying-game adventure written by George R. Strayton and published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 8. It was later republished in the collection Classic Adventures: Volume Four — The Best of the Journal. The story was set in the Corva sector and revolved around the efforts of the New Republic presence in the sector overcoming an Imperial splinter movement called the Kaarenth Dissension. The adventure was a follow-on from "Relic," also written by Strayton.
The article "The Imperial Warlords: Despoilers of an Empire" later retconned the Kaarenth Dissension as part of the Restored Empire introduced in Star Wars: Crimson Empire III—Empire Lost.
