Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a Nintendo Switch game that is a remake of the 2004 Game Boy Advance game Mario vs. Donkey Kong. It was released on February 16, 2024.
Gameplay[]

Just like in the original game, players navigate through a series of levels as Mario, and solve puzzles, unlocking doors, rescuing Mini Marios, and battling Donkey Kong.
Mario can handstand to jump higher and block falling objects, swing to reach heights, and use Hammer to defeat enemies. Pressing colored switches will switch platforms and ladders to its color, and should be used for players' advantage when completing a level. Mario can also pick up and throw objects to create platforms, and even defeat enemies. If a Key is thrown, the player has 10 seconds before it respawns to its original place.
There are also Mini Mario levels where players must lead the toys to collect the letters "T-O-Y" to open the chest, store the toys, and complete the level.
Each level is divided into two sections; the first is where Mario must collect a Key to unlock a door, while the other revolves freeing a Mini Mario from its orb.
A new addition is 2-player co-op multiplayer where the second player controls Toad.
Among returning ones, new levels were also created for this game as well.

When Donkey Kong steals a hoard of Mini Marios from the factory, Mario must recover them and stop DK from his antics.
Development[]
The game was developed at Nintendo Software Technology. Cutscenes were done at Waterproof Studios in Vancouver, Canada.
Music/Audio[]
The game's music has also been remastered, using live performances. Original composer Lawrence Schwedler has returned to remake the sountrack, along with various other crew at DigiPen.
The game's audio has been replaced with a more modern sound direction to match those of the present Super Mario games, shifting from the original's use of cartoony sound design. Mahito Yokota and Takahiro Watanabe has supervised the sound work.
Reception[]
The game received mostly favorable reviews from critics, many of which have praised the graphical and audio changes while criticizing its simplicity and lack of challenge. On Metacritic, the game has a score of "76" based on 105 reviews.[1]
Performance[]
The game runs at 60fps in full 1080p HD (docked) and 720p (handheld).[2]
