| Information |
D (ディー, Dhi) is a supporting character of the Nanbaka Web Manga series. He is an inmate of Building 10 and participated in the New Year's Butoukai. He is also the togabito of magnetism.
Appearance[]
D has short green ‘buzzed’ like hair with small yellow thunder bolt shaped highlights that also mimic cat ears (They are not cat ears), and his short bangs are pushed to the left to revealed the 4-point star shaped scar on his forehead left by a certain person. He has a fairly healthy build. He has short eyebrows that match his hair. His eyes are thin, and have orange iris' with yellow pupils.
He wears a black motorcycle jacket with his inmate badge numbers embroidered on the left, and matching black pants and shoes. He wears a black spiked choker on his neck. D has a small number of piercings, which are located on the helix's of his ears and his lips (snake bites).
Personality[]
D has a very stoic personality, due to an accident that caused him amnesia. When faced with machinery, he puts great pride and care into them. If someone doesn't follow safety regulations he gets extremely upset. He gets excited by going as fast as possible.
Seeing memories as parts that make up his being, D feels incomplete without his memories. He wishes to experience new environments and meet new people in the hopes of jogging his buried memories, so that he can feel more like himself. He likens this to a machine being incomplete if it even has one part missing. Another key motivation he states for wanting to regain his memories is to be able to finish customizing his bike until he's satisfied with it.[1]
While he oscillates from being indifferent and intensely upset, D is also caring and prioritizes others' safety when they ride alongside him.
Background[]
Due to his amnesia, D has few memories of his past. We know that he was housed in an institution that V was in too. Once, a long time ago, he watched a Japanese movie and tried to imitate the seppuku featured in it, only to actually injure himself.[2] An incident at the orphanage caused many of the people there to lose track of each other[3]. At some point, he ran away from the institution he was kept in. Then, a certain someone attacked him and caused him to lose his memories, and therefore the knowledge of his powers.[4]
Plot[]
Part Five[]
When D is brought to Nanba Prison, V recognizes him as a former occupant of the same institution. Even though D doesn't recognize him, V keeps him company and takes him to nurse visits.[3]
D is selected to be the representative inmate of Building 10. He arrives late to the opening ceremony, bursting onto the scene on his bike. He's greeted by Tengu, who calls him out as interesting and asks to know more about him. This gesture of goodwill is met by D snapping at him to get off his bike.[5]
During the first event, D upgrades his boat to go five times faster. He goes past Tengu's runaway boat without stopping it, despite the man asking him to. In return, Tengu climbs into D's boat and argues that D should help him out due to them both being on the same team. This convinces him and he goes at max speed to go after Tengu's boat.[6] They rocket past Building 3's representative inmates at a speed that leaves Tengu with motion sickness.[7] Presumably they catch up to Tengu's boat at some point, as Tengu qualifies for the next event, and D comes in third in the final leaderboard of the event.[8]
In the second event, D participates in Block B. He becomes the first person we see taken over by Nile. Uno gets warned by D to escape even as he's attacked by him.[9] Once the non-controlled competitors have taken stock of the situation, Sith attacks D. He blocks the attack, but Sith follows Uno's plan and cuts D off from Nile's line of sight using an exploding Kusudama to create a smokescreen. This gives D temporary control over his body, and Sith then chokes him into unconsciousness to stop Nile from retaking control of D once the smoke cleared.[10] He remained unconscious for most of the ensuing fight, only waking up at the very end.[11]
In the third event, when the weather suddenly shifts to rain, he experiences a flashback to the attack that cost him his memories. This flashback gives him a partial glimpse of his attacker, but nothing more. Once he's pulled out of it, he spots Zakuro running from Ishal.[12] He goes after them on his bike and passes by Jyugo with Inaba Mini. Since Inaba Mini is in such a hurry to return to Zakuro, D allows Jyugo and the robot to ride with him to the fight Zakuro is having. On the ride over, the two bond over having missing memories. Upon arriving at the fight between Zakuro, Ishal, and Tengu, Zakuro switches targets to them and lunges for the bike. D throws Jyugo off the bike right before the hit landed. With Jyugo wearing his helmet, D suffers a head injury. This is what finally restores his memory in its entirety and reminds him of his powers.[4]
Swearing vengeance against the World Administration Authority, he decides to escape. Running into Samon and an agent of the World Administration Authority, he unleashes his magnetism powers to get them out of his way.[13] Before it can come to a fight between the two, Ikkaku and Kujaku intervene and carries both D and Ishal away to Shiki Headquarters.[14] Cautiously, and with Ishal also cooperating, he decides to stay with Kaazu.[15]
Powers & Abilities[]

Magnetism (Togabito Power)[]
D's togabito power allows him to attract metals towards himself.[16] If he touches something, he can attract or repel it from his body at any force he wishes — this applies whether or not the object is made of metal.[17] Objects affected by his ability gain a green or blue aura. This ability can manifest in making objects float around D, instead of simply sticking or being thrown away from him.
Mechanical Prowess[]
He's good at customizing multiple different types of vehicles, mostly so that they can go faster than originally designed. Mostly this is for his bike[1], but he was also able to modify the boat he was given for the first Butoukai event on the fly.[6]
