The Serpent Society teamed up with R.A.I.D. and U.L.T.I.M.A.T.U.M. in their conflict against S.H.I.E.L.D.
King Cobra sent troops led by his subordinate Puff Adder to attack Washington, D.C. and distract S.H.I.E.L.D. while their troops moved stolen Iso-8 warheads from the R.A.I.D. base there. Maria Hill located Puff Adder and Captain America went to confront him. Falcon, who had previously fought Puff Adder, urged Captain America to be swift and not let Puff Adder get a hold of him. Following this advice, Captain America was able to defeat him. He took him into custody and Black Widow interrogated him and persuaded him to reveal the location of the warheads.[1]
