Biography[]
Incoronation of T'Challa[]
- "The River Tribe will not challenge today."
- ―River Tribe Elder to Zuri[src]
As the elder of his tribe, the River Tribe Elder went to the Warrior Falls to attend the Incoronation of T'Challa. During the ceremony, he announced that the River Tribe would not challenge T'Challa for the throne of Wakanda.
Later, the elder took part in a meeting of the Tribal Council, during which Okoye announced that they had intel about the criminal Ulysses Klaue, with an opportunity to capture him.[2]
Erik Killmonger's Revolution[]
As an unidentified individual arrived in Wakanda, claiming to have killed Ulysses Klaue, the River Tribe Elder joined an emergency Tribal Council meeting summoned by T'Challa. When they interrogated the outsider, he questioned T'Challa if he is Wakandan or not. Finally, when the elder asked who the man was in Xhosa, like the other Elders, the River Tribe Elder was surprised to learn that the newcomer was actually N'Jadaka, also known as Erik Killmonger and the son of late Prince N'Jobu. When N'Jadaka claimed the throne of Wakanda, the River Tribe Elder declined N'Jadaka's challenge for the throne because their challenge will take weeks to prepare.
Later, the elder had to return to the Warrior Falls to witness his duel against T'Challa. When T'Challa was defeated, the River Tribe Elder swore allegiance to Killmonger, and as such, was forced to help him carry on his plan to send Vibranium weapons all around the world. However, Killmonger was eventually overthrown by the returning T'Challa, and the elder once again got to serve the rightful King of Wakanda.[2]
T'Challa's Death[]
In 2024, King T'Challa died of an illness. The elder attended his funeral as Ramonda became queen.[3]
Talokanil-Wakandan War[]
A year later, the elder attended an emergency meeting where Ramonda revealed that Namor, a Talokanil, had infiltrated Wakanda and gave them an ultimatum. They both argued about how he got in as well as what to do. Ramonda sent Shuri and Okoye to grab a scientist that Namor wanted killed. However, Shuri was captured, leading to Ramonda firing Okoye, which the elders witnessed.
Later, Ramonda was killed by Namor, who flooded the city. The elders relocated to Gorilla City where they clashed with M'Baku. Suddenly, a Black Panther arrived, revealing herself to be Shuri as she recreated the Heart-Shaped Herb. The Wakandans united and defeated Namor.[3]
New King[]
The elders arrived at Warrior Falls to witness the incoronation of Shuri as the new Queen. However, Shuri did not show up as she left Wakanda. Instead, it was M'Baku, who successfully became king when he challenged for the throne.[3]
