T'Challa's Death[]
In 2024, King T'Challa fell ill and died soon after. Aneka attended the funeral, before picking up his casket and carrying it through the city. She then put it down in front of Zawavari as a Royal Talon Fighter took it away.[1]
Attack on the Outpost[]

Fearing that outside forces might attack the Wakandan Outreach Center for Vibranium, the Dora Milaje were posted there. Aneka posed as a civilian as mercenaries charged the center. They took Aneka and forced her to open up the door to the metal. Aneka did so, which released the Dora Milaje. Aneka then took her new Vibranium Daggers that Shuri gave her and sliced a man's gun in half.

They took on the mercenaries in a prolonged fight. During which, Okoye ridiculed Aneka for her daggers. Aneka tased a man while saying that Shuri gave it to her. When the battle was over, Okoye told her not to use them and instead use the traditional Vibranium Spear. Aneka complied while her lover, Ayo gave her a look.
The next day, the Dora accompanied Ramonda at a United Nations meeting. They walked into the meeting with the apprehended mercenaries. Ramonda used it as a chance to show the people that even without the Black Panther, they were still a threat.[1]
Quitting Her Post[]
A day later, Aneka attended a meeting with the elders. Ramonda revealed that they were infiltrated by Namor who wanted them to capture a scientist who created a Vibranium Detector. When M'Baku walked in, he exchanged insults with Okoye before Ramonda told them to stop. Aneka and the Dora stomped their spears to signify silence.

Later, Okoye returned from a mission in Cambridge and lost Shuri. An angry Ramonda disciplined her by firing Okoye from general and the Dora. Okoye argued that she had given everything before she walked out of the room, leaving Ayo to take over as general.[1] In one of the first missions under a new leader, Ayo found out that Okoye was trying to leave to get Shuri. Aneka and the Dora walked out, pointing their spears at Okoye while Ayo told her to stop. Once Okoye surrendered, Aneka approached Ayo and talked with her privately, asking if Ayo would threaten her if she stepped out of line. Ayo stayed silent, so Aneka quit her post and turned in her spear.[2]
Attack on the Golden City[]
Aneka was ordered by Ramonda to protect Shuri once she returned. Suddenly, they were attacked by Namor. Ramonda radioed to Shuri, telling her to stay in her lab. Aneka followed her orders, but Shuri hung up on Ramonda. Aneka questioned if she really did that, but Shuri argued that hanging up on the queen or her mother was different. She then followed Shuri into the Sunbird to help the people.

They lifted up people to help before Namor flew at them. He sliced their ship, sending the two flying into the river. Aneka tried to get Shuri out, but Shuri wanted to restart the ship. Aneka convinced Shuri to leave. They ran to the Citadel only to see Ramonda and Riri Williams unconscious with Okoye and Nakia attending to them. Okoye yelled at Aneka to grab Shuri and get her away as she tried to revive Ramonda.
Aneka grabbed Shuri, but the Princess tried to fight to get away while crying. Aneka sadly held onto Shuri as M'Baku came to help. They stayed with Shuri until she stopped fighting them and instead broke down into tears as her mother was gone. They soon attended the Queen's funeral.[1]

Aneka approached by Okoye to join the Midnight Angels
Wakanda relocated to Gorilla City. However, Aneka refused, saying that she would not let her home be taken away from her. She was soon approached by Okoye, who came with a proposal as she knew Aneka was rebellious. She asked Aneka why she joined the Dora Milaje. Aneka stood up and asked why she cared. Okoye told her that there was still a fight left in her. Aneka asked what she was proposing. Okoye asked her to leave the Dora and instead joined a new team with her as Midnight Angels, using Shuri's new armor.[1]
Ambush on the Talokanil[]

Shuri soon recreated the Heart-Shaped Herb and became the new Black Panther. She ordered forces to get to the Sea Leopard. There, they lured the Talokanil to the ship and ambushed them. Okoye and Aneka used their new armor to fly around the battlefield, taking on the incoming threat. As they continued fighting, the Wakandans were sent into a circle. Ayo worried that they would die, but Aneka said that if they did, they might as well take some people along with them. Suddenly, Shuri and Namor returned from battle, announcing a truce.[1]
Aftermath[]

In celebration of their victory, a barbecue was held in the Golden City. At Aneka's home, Ayo talked with people until Aneka walked up to Ayo and kissed her on the head. Ayo thanked her. She then returned to being a Dora Milaje and set up for Shuri's incoronation. However, Shuri never arrived, with M'Baku challenging for the throne instead.[1]
