"I love the people of this planet. But if you stop this Emergence, you are preventing so many other worlds like this one from being created. I still have faith in Arishem, but I refuse to hurt any of you for my beliefs."
―Kingo[src]

Kingo is a cosmic-powered member of the community of genetically engineered Eternals. Created by the Celestials in the World Forge, Kingo was sent to Earth in 5000 BC to progress the planet's societal development. Kingo was a warrior in the group who proved a useful asset in their fight against the Deviants. After the Eternals parted ways in 1521, Kingo grew more attached to humankind, and settled in India to become a famous Bollywood movie star, dancer and director. Unable to physically age, Kingo posed as his own male descendants, all sharing the same name, and formed a Bollywood familial acting dynasty.

In 2024, Kingo was approached by his old friends to get his help in stopping the Emergence. Kingo, alongside his valet Karun Patel joined the other Eternals on their mission to recruit the rest of the team, reuniting with Thena, Gilgamesh, Druig, Phastos and Makkari. When the team plotted to stop the Emergence and go against the wishes of the Celestials, Kingo grew doubtful of the plan, and following Ikaris' betrayal, Kingo left the group due to his conflicting beliefs. After the Emergence was stopped, Kingo was pulled into space alongside Phastos and Sersi by Arishem the Judge, so Earth could face judgement.

Biography[]

Creation[]

Kingo was built and programmed by Arishem the Judge, and was sent to multiple planets to protect and help evolve sentient life forms from the Deviants, powering a Celestial seed inside the planet, which would absorb the energy made from the sentient lifeforms. Eventually, the Emergence would occur, destroying the planet in the process. Upon finishing their mission, the Eternals would be sent back to the World Forge to have their memories erased and reset.[2]

Protecting Humanity[]

Arriving on Earth[]

Kingo alongside the rest of the Eternals were sent to Earth on the Domo. Once awoken, the Eternals were provided with suits to wear before arriving at the planet. Kingo, being one of the Eternal's main fighters, landed on Earth first to fight the Deviants. Kingo was assisted by Makkari in defeating one of the creatures, and he complimented her on her fighting ability. When the Deviants attacking the humans were defeated, the Eternals presented themselves to the race they were assigned to protect.[2]

Battle of Babylon[]

In 575 B.C., Kingo resided in Babylon along with the other Eternals, defending the city and helping it reach and keep the status as the greatest city on Earth. He notably took part in a fight against a group of Deviants, among which Enkidu. During the attack, Kingo complained that Thena had killed a Deviant that he targeted, but quickly forgot about it as he found another creature to kill. He then helped the other Eternals fight and kill Enkidu.

Kingo admires Sprite's illusions

Kingo took part in the party celebrating the victory of the Eternals over the Deviants, admiring the illusions generated by Sprite to tell their story. He then took a drink, although he was annoyed by Gilgamesh sitting to close to him.[2]

Defending Korea[]

Rescue of Kim Bu-Sik

Kingo battles Kumiho

In 1142 AD, Kingo and Sprite arrived in Korea to stop of Deviant attack. Sprite quickly turned a man named Kim Bu-Sik invisible while Kingo fought the Deviant known as Kumiho. Kingo realized how powerful the deviant was and asked Sprite for more help. Suddenly, Kumiho vanished which confused both Kingo and Sprite. Kim explained how Kumiho used a bead to become a sorcerer. Sprite then turned herself invisible and took to bead, stripping Kumiho of her power. As Kumiho escaped, Kingo jokingly asked if they should run after her. Kim explained that the scroll her was holding is called the Samguk Sagi Kumiho and contains all information of the attacks. He gave it to the Eternals, saying that it was too much for the world to see.[5]

Ending the War[]

In 1520, Kingo and the rest of the Eternals battled Kumiho and many other Deviants in a Deviants Nest. This battle ended the 500 Year War.[6] A year later, Kingo found the Samguk Sagi Kumiho stored away in the Domo and asked Sprite where it was from. Sprite then used illusions to retell the story.[1]

Eternals Disbandment[]

EternalsDisbanded

The Eternals go their separate ways

Kingo was also present during the Fall of Tenochtitlan, during which he helped kill the remaining Deviants. Once he returned to the other Eternals, he found them under attack by Thena who was suffering from a Mahd Wy'ry crisis. Kingo checked on Makkari, who was healed by Ajak. Once Thena was knocked unconscious, Kingo regrouped with the Eternals in a pyramid, wondering what would happen if Thena fell under Mahd Wy'ry again.

In the aftermath of this attack and Druig's departure out of frustration that he was not allowed to interfere with human conflicts, Kingo was instructed by Ajak to live his own life until the Eternals would be reunited.[2]

Acting Career[]

First Acting Job[]

"Oh, yes! Amazing, considering it was your first ever acting performance!"
―Kingo to Himself[src]

Following the disbandment of the Eternals, Kingo lived with Sprite for a time. However, they frequently had to move around as people realized quickly that Sprite did not age, which began to frustrate Kingo over time.[2] At one point while they lived together, Kingo decided to try acting. He gave his first performance ever in a public space, and was very confident in his own performance.[7]

Pranked[]

Self Compliments

"Gotcha!!!"
"Sprite?! Why, you!!"
―Kingo and Sprite[src]

Later that night, Kingo found a mirror and began complimenting himself on his efforts. Pretending to be fan, Kingo complimented his acting abilities, and as himself accepted the compliment. Kingo feigned humility with the "fan" and brought up his powers as an Eternal. Suddenly, a maharani appeared behind him and asked to see his powers in action. Kingo used his abilities to destroy several rocks and saw that the maharani was impressed, so he continued to show off.

Kingo Kisses a Donkey

The maharani then asked for a kiss, explaining that it was she needed. Kingo said that he would not deny her a kiss and then leaned in, closing his eyes. Kingo kissed the maharani, but then opened his eyes and realized that he was in fact kissing a donkey. Kingo stood straight, shocked, and heard Sprite behind him declaring that he had tricked him. Kingo became angry and started to chase Sprite.

Chasing Illusions

Kingo chases Sprite

Kingo declared that he would get Sprite and fired energy blasts at her, but Sprite declared that she was too energetic for Kingo to catch her. Sprite cast several illusions of herself, and Kingo chased Sprite through all of them. He eventually hit into a pole which the real Sprite was sitting on top of. Kingo watched Sprite laughed at her and turned to see the donkey winking at him. Kingo and Sprite then laughed together about the prank.[7]

Leaving Sprite[]

"I got sick of moving every five years. People freak out when they notice that you don't... age".
"I thought we were friends."
―Kingo and Sprite[src]

However, he felt tired of having to find excuses to explain why Sprite seemingly did not grow old and of having to find new places to live once people became too suspicious. Therefore, Kingo eventually decided to leave Sprite behind as they lived in Macedonia and to continue his path alone, which soon led him to India.[2]

Bollywood Star[]

―Kingo to Sprite[src]

Kingo began his film career in the early days of silent films in the early 20th Century, billing himself as "The Great Kingo". He starred in Saraush Ke Putra. Once having settled into India in the 1930s,[8] Kingo made a name for himself in the Bollywood film industry. To hide his immortality, he claimed through the years that he belonged to a single lineage of acclaimed actors. As the "son" of The Great Kingo, "Raj Kingo Deva", he starred in Yuva Prem. As his "grandson", "Kingo the Third", he starred in Galikota, ; as his "great-grandson", "Sri Kingo", he starred in Khel, and as his "great-great-grandson", he starred in Phantom Gun, The Shadow Warrior 2: Voyage of Time and Shadow Warrior 3, as well as directing some internet content. During this time, in the 1970s, he met Karun Patel, who was shocked upon learning of his agelessness and attempted to stake Kingo through the heart, believing he was a vampire. The two eventually reconciled, with Patel becoming Kingo's loyal assistant and friend.[2]

The Emergence[]

Reuniting with the Eternals[]

In 2024, Kingo was filming for a new movie, Legend of Icarus, in which he portrayed a fictionalized version of his fellow Eternal Ikaris. He was then surprised upon seeing that Ikaris, Sersi and Sprite had come to visit. Although initially thrilled, Kingo was devastated when they informed him of the return of the Deviants and the death of Ajak. As they requested his help to face the returning Deviants, Kingo was reluctant to follow them, but was inspired by Karun Patel that reforming the team of the Eternals was his duty.

KingoTalksWithSprite

Kingo thus took the other Eternals and Patel, who was tasked with recording this new adventure as a documentary, in his private jet to go to Australia, where they would meet with Gilgamesh and Thena. During the flight, Kingo asked Sprite and Sersi to tell about themselves for his documentary, but only got mixed results as Sprite refused and Sersi was not comfortable in front of the camera. Kingo then had a conversation with Sprite during which he was blamed for having left her in Macedonia, although Kingo insisted that he had never forgotten about her and that she had inspired his acting career.

In Australia, as they approached the residence of Gilgamesh and Thena, Kingo found the corpse of another Deviant, correcting Patel who found the creature beautiful that it actually was ferocious and deadly. He then reunited with Gilgamesh, who was informed of Ajak's death, much to his chagrin. The group then went to see Thena, who had suffered from another Mahd Wy'ry episode. Once Sprite and Gilgamesh were able to calm down Thena, Kingo joked about the state of their "garden," since they lived in an arid area of Australia. Kingo then joined the other Eternals for a copious meal, enjoying Gilgamesh's beer before learning how it was made.

KingoDiscussion

Kingo listens to Sersi

Kingo later learned from Sersi the true nature and purpose of the Eternals, that they were highly advanced synthetic beings created by Arishem the Judge to ensure the Emergence of Tiamut the Communicator, which would destroy Earth. Kingo insisted that despite the cataclysm, this could lead to the creation of many new worlds hosting life. As Sersi suggested to stop the Emergence, Kingo objected, stating that they were not allowed to oppose Arishem's design. Upon hearing Gilgamesh suggesting that they could ask Druig to put Tiamut to sleep, Kingo voiced his disbelief. He then instructed Patel to go home since the world could be ending, but agreed to let him stay with the Eternals as Patel refused to return to India.[2]

Ambush at Druig's Compound[]

"I did, sir!"
―Kingo and Karun Patel[src]

The group went to the Amazon Rainforest to meet up with Druig in his settlement. On the water, Gilgamesh talked to Kingo about movies, claiming The Godfather Part II to be his favorite. An annoyed Kingo sarcastically told him that was an original opinion. Kingo then asked if Gilgamesh watched any of his movies. Gilgamesh asked if they were on Showtime, but Kingo simply promised he would get him blu-rays.[9]

Kingo argues with Druig

Kingo got angry when Druig possessed the mind of Karun Patel and forced him to break his camera, leading to an argument during which Kingo reminded Druig that he was not a god, although Druig noted the irony of such a statement since Kingo had been chasing admiration during his acting career. Once the argument ended and Druig left, Kingo voiced his disappointment regarding his behavior.

As he had been allowed to stay in the compound, Kingo later noticed Sprite observing Ikaris. Knowing that she was in love with him, Kingo told her that he was sorry she was not able to get what she wanted, although Sprite angrily left after realizing that Patel was recording their conversation. Few minutes later, the compound was attacked by two Deviants, and Kingo was barely able to repel one of them which was attacking Sersi. As he was able to hold his own against the Deviants, Kingo noticed that Patel was still filming to have some action sequences, and instructed Sprite to take him to safety.

Kingo and Karun Mourn

Kingo kept fighting against the Deviants alongside the other Eternals. Knowing that he needed more firepower, he asked Sprite to distract one of them long enough for Kingo to concentrate enough cosmic energy into a light sphere. He then slid under the Deviant and fired the energy ball, blasting its head off and making sure that Patel had recorded his victory. When Kingo was thrown into a shack fighting a deviant, Sprite came to save him, but he urged Sprite to leave him, with her stating she won't. When the deviant started charging at them, Kingo guarded Sprite so he could take the hit, but both are saved by Ikaris before the deviant could ram into them. He was shocked upon witnessing Sersi turning one of the Deviants into a tree, something she had never been able to do. As the fight ended and Kro, the leader of the Deviants, fled, Kingo realized that Gilgamesh had been killed in battle, and attended his funeral. Kingo prayed as he watched Gilgamesh's body get burned.[2]

Ikaris' Betrayal[]

Once the Eternals had been reunited with Phastos, Kingo and his teammates journeyed to Iraq where Phastos unearthed the Domo. As they entered the ship, Kingo kept having Karun Patel filming their progression, trying to create a worrying atmosphere, and when Phastos was scared that Thena would suffer from another Mahd Wy'ry attack after stepping on a chips bag, Kingo mocked him, calling him a coward. Kingo was then reunited with Makkari, discovering all the artifacts she had hoarded over the centuries, and proceeded to tell her about the inexistence of Olympia and the impending Emergence.

KingoTalksToIkaris

Kingo encourages Ikaris

As the Eternals discussed their plan to halt the Emergence of Tiamut the Communicator, Kingo voiced his concerns that they might kill the Celestial, thus preventing billions of other lives to appear. He asked Ikaris to support his statement, which was followed by Sprite who knew that Ikaris disapproved the idea of stopping the Emergence. Once Sprite angrily left, followed by Ikaris, Kingo went after him, and assured Ikaris that he would follow him regardless of his decision. When Ikaris replied that he was not the person Kingo thought, Kingo was left puzzled and let Ikaris exit the Domo.

KingoAimsAtIkaris

Kingo returned to the other Eternals, watching Phastos working on his Uni-Mind project. He was then shocked upon witnessing Ikaris, now wearing his combat armor, destroying Phastos' design, and learned from Sersi that Ikaris had actually known about the Emergence for centuries. As Makkari returned after locating the point of Emergence, Kingo jumped between her and Ikaris to protect her from the latter and ordered Makkari to leave. Enraged by Ikaris' betrayal, especially after learning that he had killed Ajak, Kingo was willing to fight him, blaming him for the death of Gilgamesh. Eventually though, Ikaris and Sprite left without fighting.

KingoLeaves

Kingo refuses to fight

Despite Ikaris' turning against the Eternals, Kingo still believed that the Eternals were not supposed to stop the Emergence, finding himself stuck between his care for humanity and his faith in Arishem the Judge. Believing that they would not be able to win against Ikaris, Kingo decided to leave, refusing to actively oppose the Eternals, and thus instructed Patel to go with him so they could return to India.[2]

Judged by Arishem[]

"Sometimes I wonder if we did the right thing, killing Tiamut."
"It’s too late for that, but you followed your heart. We all did, even Ikaris."
Sersi and Kingo[src]

Two weeks following the failed Emergence, Kingo and Patel were reunited with Sersi and a now-human Sprite in London, where they suggested that she attend school as a way for her to pick up social skills. Sersi and Kingo then watched as Patel drove Sprite away to her new life. Sersi confided to Kingo as whether or not they did the right thing by killing Tiamut, but Kingo assured her that they all followed their hearts for what they believed was right.

KingoKidnapped

Kingo is held hostage by Arishem

Kingo was abducted by the Prime Celestial, Arishem, for sabotaging the emergence of Tiamut, despite the fact that he had not participated in the final confrontation. He was bought there with Sersi and Phastos, so Arishem would evaluate their memories for a final judgement of the humans.[2] Despite his disappearance, in 2025, his movies, such as Kingo's Kristmas and Haxan 3: Haxaner, were still released on Earth.[10]

Personality[]

Over the centuries, Kingo has become enamored with the idea of fame. In present day, he is a famous Bollywood star who must leave his life of wealth and comfort to help the Eternals repel the new Deviant threat. Kingo has used energy projection power to protect humans and grew to love how they adored him. Over the years, Kingo became a performer using their Eternal stories as his inspiration.

Overall, Kingo is one of, if not the most boisterous and affable of the Eternals, having a good rapport with almost every one of them. The sole exception of them is Sprite. Kingo is dedicated to the mission of the Celestials, although he is not a zealot like Ikaris, as Kingo stated that although he disagreed with their plan to stop the Tiamut the Communicator's Emergence, he was not willing to harm them to do so and that he has grown emotionally attached and fond of humans himself. And so, he simply returned home to India, with Karun, instead of taking part in the fight.

Despite his positive qualities, Kingo can be slightly inconsiderate. This is evidenced in his tempestuous relationship with Sprite, having abandoned her in Macedonia due to getting tired of having to constantly find explanations for Sprite's stagnant youth. However, Kingo always had a soft spot for Sprite, with his love of movies and cinema stemming from him missing Sprite's vivid storytelling. Kingo's affection for Sprite led to him being the only Eternal, besides Sersi to see through her aloof exterior, realizing that Sprite was in love with Ikaris after noticing her jealously observing Ikaris and Sersi reconnecting.
