Clinton Francis "Clint" Barton was a skilled marksman, a former special agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and one of the founding members of the Avengers. In 2018, he was infected by the Quantum Virus and became a zombie. Two weeks after that, he attacked Happy Hogan and Sharon Carter at the Grand Central Terminal and infected Hogan; he tried to kill Carter but she managed to flee. Later, he was summoned to another world by Strange Supreme to help confront Ultron, but was swiftly killed when the AI destroyed the planet he was on.

Becoming a Zombie[]

Avengers What If.. — Hawkeye arrives in San Francisco

In 2018, a virus known as the quantum virus spread throughout the United States of America, causing those infected to become zombies. After being let off house arrest, Barton, along with Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff, reassembled with Tony Stark; putting their differences aside to respond to the national health emergency. They were joined by T'Challa and flew via Quinjet to San Francisco to try and contain the virus. Upon landing on the Golden Gate Bridge, Barton, along with the others, were overwhelmed by a horde of zombies and became infected.^[2]

Ambush at the Grand Central Terminal[]

Barton, Steve Rogers, and Sam Wilson went to the Grand Central Terminal in New York City and ambushed their allies who survived. Barton ambushed Happy Hogan and Sharon Carter in a section of the station, shooting Hogan with a weapon and firing an arrow at Carter. Barton then quickly infected Hogan, but was unable to get to Carter, as she killed Hogan and fled the scene.^[2]

Battle for the Multiverse[]

Attacking Ultron[]

Sometime later, Barton, along with all the other zombies, were summoned by Strange Supreme to an unhabitated planet on another universe to distract another universe's Ultron. However, Barton and the other zombies were killed when Ultron used the Infinity Stones to obliterate the planet.^[3]

Zombie Physiology: Barton was infected with an encephalopathic virus that overloaded his brain's limbic system, turning him into a zombie.
- Infection: Like any zombies, Barton is capable of spreading encephalopathic virus to others by biting or scratching which would turn them into zombies. Barton was able to turn Happy Hogan into a zombie.

Master Marksman: Barton is a master archer, even after he was zombified. He accurately launched a grappling hook arrow through Happy Hogan's shoulder, and shot another arrow into Sharon Carter.
Master Martial Artist: Barton is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist, having been extensively trained in various forms of martial arts as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Master Acrobat: Barton is highly athletic and agile, capable of complex acrobatic maneuvers.
