Collision Course Part Two is the ninth episode of the sixth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Synopsis[]
No time for the team to play catch-up, there's a planet to save.
Plot[]
The situation is critical for S.H.I.E.L.D.: both the Lazy Comet and Sarge's Truck dangerously close in to the Shrike Tower, which could unleash a cataclysm on Earth. Moreover, Sarge's Squad manage to take control of the Zephyr One, wounding Diaz while handcuffing Alphonso Mackenzie. Yo-Yo Rodriguez, however, is able to evade capture. She restrains Pax, uses her super-speed to give Mackenzie the key to his cuffs and lures Jaco into chasing her, with Pax being killed by Sarge so that his plan will not be hindered. Using this incident and what she knows of Jaco's life, Rodriguez is later able to convince him to switch sides.
In Sarge's truck, Daisy Johnson, Melinda May, Deke Shaw and Snowflake are trapped with the Atom Bomb Sarge means to detonate on the Shrike Tower to destroy Izel and her Shrike once and for all. Due to Shaw being unable to defuse the bomb, they all believe that they are about to die, but at the last moment, Johnson has the idea of using her powers to protect the bomb from the collision's shockwave. Therefore, the Shrike Tower is destroyed when the truck crashes into it, but the bomb is preserved, although it is still possible to detonate it. The collapsing tower also releases a gigantic swarm of Shrike, which attack the truck.
Izel feels the destruction of her tower, causing her to surmise that Sarge got ahead of her on Earth. She thus decides to take the Lazy Comet into the upper atmosphere again. Disturbed by the fact that the bomb did not explode, and fearing that Izel will escape from him once again, Sarge orders James Davis to follow the Lazy Comet. Thanks to Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, the two spacecrafts are able to make contact, and Sarge and Izel share words of hostility, fueling his anger. Since Sarge spoke with Phil Coulson's voice, as Fitz and Simmons recognized, Izel suspects them of working with the enemy, causing them to flee for their lives and hide in the Lazy Comet.
Noticing how troubled Sarge seems after his talk with Izel, Mackenzie taunts him before breaking free of his cuffs and engages in a brutal fist fight against Sarge. Eventually, Mackenzie is able to take the upper hand, causing Sarge to be locked up in the Zephyr One's Containment Module. Mackenzie, Rodriguez, Davis and Jaco, who has joined S.H.I.E.L.D.'s side, decide to take the Quinjet to infiltrate the Lazy Comet and rescue Fitz and Simmons, leaving Sarge in the Zephyr One. During the mission, Jaco and Davis spot Izel, but are unable to catch her as she mysteriously disappears from the ship. Meanwhile, Rodriguez and Mackenzie are able to find Fitz and Simmons.
The group tries to reach the Quinjet, but it has already been overrun by Izel's Crew, who are completely under her control. Nevertheless, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are able to escape thanks to Jaco, who uses the Spray Paint Transporter's portal painted on his jacket to bring them all back to Earth, arriving on top of Sarge's truck, which has survived the assault of the Shrike thanks to a smart move by Johnson who forced them through a choke point before unleashing her powers on them, thus destroying them all. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are reunited, and Jaco takes the Atom Bomb back on the Lazy Comet, choosing to sacrifice himself to destroy the ship and, hopefully, Izel.
With the Shrike cataclysm having been avoided, and with all its top agents back and healthy, S.H.I.E.L.D. gathers at the Lighthouse to celebrate their victory, with both Sarge and Snowflake being taken into custody. Shaw spends some time with Fitz, as he is now interacting with another past version of his grandfather, while Rodriguez and May discuss how they were troubled by Sarge looking exactly like Coulson, and Mackenzie delivers a moving speech about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mission. Later, as the night comes and the party ends, Rodriguez and Mackenzie get back together. Left alone, May enters Sarge's cell and, without saying a word, repeatedly shoots him, mortally wounding him.
