The Asis aircraft was a pilot test jet that was built by Mar-Vell to test her Light-Speed Engine.
History[]
Crashed[]
- "She crashed the Asis aircraft doing an unauthorized test flight."
- ―Nick Fury to Carol Danvers[src]
While testing her Light-Speed Engine, Wendy Lawson took pilot Carol Danvers on a test flight. During the flight they were intercepted by Yon-Rogg. Lawson then told Danvers to fly faster, engaging in a dogfight. They were then shot down by Yon-Rogg who landed and told Danvers to hand over the Light-Speed Engine. In an act of defiance, she shot the engine, causing the Light-Speed Engine along with the Asis to explode and become destroyed.[1]
Alternate Universe Versions[]
Celestial Invader Ego[]
- "New York's a long way from the Mojave Desert."
"Not in my ride." - ―Bill Foster and Mar-Vell[src]
In an alternate universe, a young Peter Quill arrived on Earth to fuel Ego's Expansion. In order to prevent this, the Avengers were formed and dispatched to find Quill. To make it from the Mojave Desert to New York City quickly, the Avengers used Mar-Vell's Asis aircraft fitted with her Tesseract-powered Light-Speed Engine.[2]
When the Avengers arrived in the Asis at Coney Island, the Winter Soldier remained to pilot the ship while the rest of the team attempted to capture Quill. After failed attempts by Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Goliath to capture Quill, the Winter Soldier targeted him with the Asis' weapons before being warned by Mar-Vell to be careful of damage to the ship to prevent an explosion.Deciding the best plan was to retreat, the Avengers fled back onto the Asis, however, before they could make their escape, Quill stopped the aircraft using celestial energy. Thor then arrived, knocking quill unconscious, saving the Avengers and allowing them to capture Quill.[2]
When Quill managed to escape the Joint Dark Energy Mission Facility and out of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s custody with the help of Hope van Dyne, the Asis was taken by Mar-Vell, Ant-Man, and the Winter Soldier to track him down. When they found Quill in Missouri, Ant-Man convinced Quill to help fight his father Ego. The group then took Quill back to the Mojave Desert at light-speed, where Ant-Man and Quill jumped out into battle against Ego.[2]
Capabilities[]
The Asis aircraft was a starship capable of handling travel at light-speed. The aircraft was built to contain and utilize the Light-Speed Engine which was powered using the Tesseract. Although the ship was powerful enough to harness the energy of the Space Stone, it was still able to be shot down by Yon-Rogg using a Kree starship.[1] In an alternate universe, the ship was also able to be prevented from traveling when held using celestial energy.[2]
