Mar-Vell is a Kree undercover scientist living on Earth under the alias Wendy Lawson. Together with other exceptional individuals, she was assembled by S.H.I.E.L.D. to confront the Celestial Ego and his progeny in their attempt to terraform Earth.
Biography[]
Celestial Invasion[]
Mar-Vell was called in by S.H.I.E.L.D. along with Ant-Man, Goliath, Black Panther, and Winter Soldier to deal with an alien threat. After meeting her teammates, they traveled in the Asis to Coney Island. When they arrived, Mar-Vell exited her ship and flew to the crash site where Peter Quill first appeared. Mar-Vell worked on securing the ship while the rest of the team trapped Quill, telling them to get him into the photon grid. As she entered the ship, Mar-Vell told the team should would regroup with them when she could, informing them that the ship's technology was advanced and would take time getting into.
Mar-Vell managed to pilot the ship to Coney Island, where she told Winter Soldier not to fire at Quill from the Asis, as the Tesseract being hit could cause major destruction to the world. Quill fired a blast, which hit the ship Mar-Vell was in, forcing her to jump out. However, her jetpack was damaged, but she was caught by Goliath in his giant form. They were then attacked by Quill, so Ant-Man decided that they should retreat, and they returned to the Asis. Quill prevented them from leaving, but they were saved when Thor arrived and defeated Quill.
The team returned to the base and listened to Thor reveal that multiple worlds had been destroyed as part of Ego's Expansion, and that the only way to stop it is for a Celestial to destroy the seedling. However, Hope van Dyne freed Quill from his cell, so the team discussed how to stop the Expansion and Quill, with Mar-Vell strongly being against killing Quill.
When Ego arrived on Earth, the team made a plan to use Quill to defeat his father, so Mar-Vell flew Ant-Man to find Quill. Mar-Vell wondered whether they would be able to convince Quill to fight his own father, which Ant-Man found amusing. They found Quill at the gravesite of his mother, so Mar-Vell made a plan to capture him, but Ant-Man decided to talk to Quill instead. Ant-Man was able to get through to Quill, so Mar-Vell flew them to the Mojave Desert, where they defeated Ego.
To celebrate their victory, the team gathered at Ant-Man's house, where Mar-Vell introduced Quill and van Dyne to her pet Goose, offering to give her over to Quill. Mar-Vell asked Howard Stark about Winter Soldier, before sitting down for dinner. Thor informed them that Ego was still alive and needed to be dealt with, so they all decided to stay together as a team to avenge those who had fallen due to his destruction.[1]

Behind the Scenes[]
- Mar-Vell and Hank Pym were included in What If... Peter Quill Attacked Earth's Mightiest Heroes? due to Matthew Chauncey being a fan of The American President, starring Michael Douglas and Annette Bening, and wanting to have characters played by the two actors flirt with each other.[2]
