Synopsis for "Hordeculture"
In the Kroakoan Harvest Center of the Savage Land, mutants, supervised by Anole and Pixie, are tending to their fields when the Krakoan gateway emits a strange noise. Four masked figures in unusual armor and armed with weapons emerge from the gateway. Pixie informs them that they are on Krakoa, specifically in the Savage Land, where flowers are grown. Anole questions the newcomers, who respond dismissively before attacking the young mutants with a green substance that immobilizes them.
Meanwhile, on Krakoa, Cyclops and Emma Frost descend to the Quiet Council's meeting chamber. Magneto reveals an unexpected problem, and Jean informs Cyclops that the Council will send him out due to a malfunctioning gateway to the Savage Land, indicating something is wrong with Krakoa. Cyclops reassures them he will handle it.
In the Savage Land, the masked figures, now revealed as elderly women, incapacitate the mutants and begin picking Krakoan flowers. Cyclops, Emma, and Shaw arrive through a teleportation portal created by Gateway because the Krakoan gateway is not working anymore. The elderly women introduce themselves as Hordeculture. First Shaw and then Cyclops confront them but they are overpowered and immobilized by the green substance. Emma, in her diamond-hard form, demands an explanation.
Augusta, one of the women, explains that Hordeculture consists of radical botanists committed to restoring the planet to its natural state. They have infiltrated agritech companies and plan to control the world's food supply, ultimately reducing the human population drastically. The Krakoan flowers pose a threat to their plan, so they hacked the gateways to study Krakoa and potentially bend it to their will.
As Hordeculture departs through the gateway, Emma sarcastically thanks Gateway for his "help". Later, Emma and Shaw report back to the rest of the Quiet Council, informing them that they have a significant problem.
