Marvel Database

Membership in the Database Project is a many splendored thing. We would like to keep it that way, so there are a few guidelines every member, staff included, should keep under consideration at all times.

  • Have fun and don't take this too seriously. We are here first as fans of the comic book universe trying to enjoy our mutual hobby, second as editors and authors. We make no money from this venture and there is no stake on the line.
  • The nature of our site, freely providing information about someone else's intellectual property, often requires we walk on 'legal-eggshells'. We must always be mindful of copyright laws and never plagiarize.
  • There is no quota to fill and no race to win. We value quality over quantity. Some valued members rarely contribute to the database, if at all. Important contributions to our site include word of mouth advertising and posting in the forums. All these things are needed for our site to be excellent.
  • No one person has ultimate rule. Although staff are often seen discussing matters of format or the general direction of the site, everyone is valued equally and should be counted as such. Everyone's opinion matters. This site is 'by the people, for the people' and wouldn't be where it is without the community.
  • Courtesy is key. Although we do not profit financially by the continuance of this project, the success of our site on the internet as a whole can be dramatically affected by our outward perception. Please always be mindful not to discourage another user's ideas, nor be too quick to correct another's mistakes. Speak positively of other sites similar to our own, as the internet is big enough for all of us.
  • Don't take this too seriously. Have fun! There is no stake on the line. (I can't stress this enough!)
