Brazil (Portuguese: Brasil), officially the Federative Republic of Brazil (Portuguese: República Federativa do Brasil), is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world's fifth largest country, both by geographical area and by population. It is the largest Lusophone country in the world, and the only one in the Americas. Brasília is the capital city of Brazil.

History

20th Century[]

In 1941 the Mato Grosso region of Brazil became the site of civil unrest with the local Jivaro head-hunters and the spread of a potent disease created by the Deviant Pluto. American scientist were dispatched to the area to find a cure and were assisted by the Eternal hero Hurricane who battled the Jivaro and forced Pluto to flee while a cure was developed, wiping out the plague.[2]

As World War II progressed, many Nazi prisoners of war were placed in camps in Brazil. In 1943, Nazi agent Baron von Widemouth broke free from one such camp and attempted to poison Allied soldiers stationed in the country with Lewisite gas. This plot was foiled by Captain America and Bucky.[3]

Modern Age[]

Kang and the Scarlet Centurion monitored the chaos across the globe one event the Wizard was levitating a building.[4]

People queued up around the block of a stone in São Paulo for the release of Continuum®.[5]

Edwin Jarvis the Butler for the Avengers traveled through Underspace at the Infinite Avengers Mansion to gain ingredients from across the globe in a matter of moments. He traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil to buy the very best coffee beans.[6]

Blade attacked the Secret Assimilation Bunker in São Paulo, Brazil. But he only finds ashes as the inhabitants had been burnt by the sunlight.[7]

Thor and the Uncanny Avengers helped save Rio de Janeiro from being hit by space debris.[8]

Age of Apocalypse (Earth-295)[]

South America became known as "The Atrocity Zone." Brazil was obliterated by a nuclear strike.[9]

Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610)[]

Spider-Man was kidnapped by Doctor Octopus and taken to São Paulo in a private jet to serve as leverage for Octopus' revenge against his ex-wife Roselita, who served as consultant for a film based on Spider-Man.[10]

Humorverse (Earth-9047)[]

The Watcher put a big placard (visible from space) in Brazil, announcing that he was selling property there.[11]

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-199999)[]

Bruce Banner worked in a soft drink bottling factory in Brazil while attempting to find a cure for his condition. After suffering a cut, and his blood finds its way into a soda bottle eventually drank by an ill-fated consumer, Ross discovers Banner's location, and sends a team to capture him, led by the Russian-born British special operations expert Emil Blonsky. Following a ferocious battle in the soft drink bottling plant where he transforms into the Hulk, Banner escapes Blonsky, and ends up in Guatemala.[12]
