Forthwini was the son of Marhwini and second Lord of the Éothéod.
Biography[]
Like his father before him, Forthwini lived in troubled times with all the lands east of the Misty Mountains still in danger of invasion from the Easterling Wainriders. As their home in the plains of Rhovanion had been occupied in the century before, the remaining free Northmen lived in the plains south of Mirkwood and came to be called the Éothéod.
Certain that the Wainriders were rearming for war, Forthwini went to King Ondoher of Gondor with a warning and Gondor prepared for an invasion. The Éothéod joined them and came to the aid of Gondor's Northern Army near the Black Gate, but were defeated and the Éothéod retreated. The battle claimed the lives of Ondoher and his two sons; but Gondor's southern army then defeated and destroyed the Wainriders at the Battle of the Camp. Forthwini's fate is unknown.
