I don’t have a quote to start on this post, so I’m just going to say it. What does Christopher Nolan have in common with James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Peter Jackson, and David Lean? Their films have made a lot of box office bank and have won more than five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. While I am happy to see Oppenheimer succeed with the most wins, I’m going to give a shoutout to the other winners. I’m impressed that Poor Things picked up four awards tonight. I’m also happy to see American Fiction and Anatomy of a Fall win for Original and Adapted Screenplays, I thought they were incredibly well written! And I’m also happy to see the Best Visual Effects award to be given for the designers of Godzilla Minus One, which has amazing visual effects than your typical superhero movie! Anyway, Oppenheimer is what I wanted for an epic film to take home the gold. And now, Nolan has joined up with those directors and their epic films. Maybe there is hope for cinema.
