There’s a lot to deal with here. Really this is one of the most haunting films ever.
I thought a bit about Scorsese's "the Aviator" and it made me google search Christopher Nolan's unmade Howard Hughes biopic potentially starring Jim Carey. The Aviator is one of my favorites but I would have loved to see Nolan's vision as well. Probably a blessing in disguise because Nolan said he applied his thought process from the Hughes script to this one. Another story of a tortured American icon but this one had horrific results and Nolan did the right job conveying that.
Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" came to mind in theme and spectacle. Another one of my favorites but it's weird how in the late 60's we had a scary story looking to the future in space on the danger's of human kind going to far with technology. When really we need to look back and not too far from our backyard.
