I had to give this another rewatch as I left feeling, all over the place mentally about it. It stayed with me for a while post viewing, and I think that says something.
Was this as scary as the marketing? Maybe not. Was this the kind of film I expected it to be? Not really. But after letting go of the movie I thought I was going to watch, I could appreciate this more.
I was able to fall deeper into the lore and catch subtlety I missed during my first watch. There are deep layers woven into this story that are intelligent and fascinating. With gorgeous cinematography and an opening thats burned into my brain.
While I’m not huge on supernatural/satanic horror, i’m not gonna let that taint the fact that Longlegs is incredibly well made, haunting, effective, disturbing, with stunning performances, and a really unique character that feels fresh. For that, it’s a marvel to look at and study. This is a good time at the theater!
I also convinced my whole family to join and it was a blast! 🍿🥤
