I’ve slept on this one for ages because it didn’t look particularly interesting to me, but this viewing was actually a big surprise because I enjoyed it a lot!
The reason why it gets a 7/10 and not higher is because for some reason I wasn’t very emotionally invested in the story or characters, so I didn’t really care about how the plot was progressing or what was happening to the characters, so the vast majority of my enjoyment came from the pure entertainment of it all and luckily, this delivered.
I would begin with explaining how good the action scenes are, but now that I think about it, the entire film pretty much feels like one long action scene. From the very beginning it hooks you in with its crisp and detailed visuals and doesn’t let go. The editing is extremely fast and flashy which normally bugs me, but unlike say a Baz Luhrmann film, the style of this film actually compliments the editing perfectly, which adds to the chaotic energy that the film presents.
I really enjoyed it, even though it’s not the kind of film that will stay on my mind for very long, although it does have a lot of rewatchability and I get the appeal.
