It's a Wonderful Life

“A toast to my big brother George, the richest man in town.”

As perfect as they come. First time watching this and what a phenomenal, remarkable and beautiful motion picture this is. I’ve never seen anything quite like this one, easily straight away into my favorites of all time, a masterpiece in filmmaking, in performances, in writing and storytelling, every way imaginable. As the ending was nearing I was ready to cry and once that last scene hit I found myself catching the tears falling from my face, left me speechless, the credits rolled and I was just staring at the screen and thinking “…wow…” there wasn’t a reaction, it was just silence and my brain processing the beautiful life story of our two leads and what it meant seeing them grow. George Bailey and Mary Hatch deserve all of their success, George in particular is one of the most honest and caring male lead characters I’ve ever seen and been able to relate to. He’s the man I want to be and the life I want to have.

“No man is a failure who has friends.”

One of the best if not the very best feel-good film there is. I found myself thinking about life and wanting to live more and do much more right after finishing this. Those films that make you want to tell all of the people you love that they’re meaningful and they have a place in your dear heart. James Stewart here is just out of this world, his performance is unparalleled, making all of us side with him, cheer him in his best moments and cry with him at his lowest. Donna Reed is so lovely here, she’s like the sunshine, a devoted wife and a caring mother that only wants what’s best for her family. Frank Capra directs this masterfully, delivering one of the best told life stories I’ve had the pleasure of watching, every scene moves along and the pacing is immaculate. He knows how to make characters grow and come out as greater people when challenged by adversity. Perfection has never been more clear.

“George Bailey, I’ll love you ‘til the day I die.”

Truer words have never been said since Mary admitted her love to George. A timeless film, a classic for a reason, I’ll make sure to watch this on a yearly basis, it deserves every ounce of respect I give it and I’ll make sure to continue showcasing this to my future generations. A beautiful tale about a charming and at time too honest of a man who wants everyone around him to succeed and a woman to love him for the rest of his life. It truly is a wonderful life.
