Another year passes and I still lack the words to describe the beauty of Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life. I'm convinced that the overwhelming optimism, goodness and concern for the well-being of mankind is far too profound to successfully put to words. But with any luck, I'll figure it out next year.
Until then, remember the words of the sign in George Bailey's office, “All you can take with you is that which you have given away.” It's this simple phrase that has stuck with me on this rewatch. Carry these words with you throughout this next year, and show each other kindness and compassion just as the people of Bedford Falls did for George Bailey.
