The trinity nuclear test scene was unlike anything I've ever experienced at the theaters. Outstanding. That alone cemented Oppenheimer as the must see cinematic event of the year. Cillian Murphy in a lead role of a Nolan film is something me and many others I'm sure has manifested for years and for it to finally happen feels so great. He is remarkable throughout and delivers a performance I'll remember all year.
It's funny that after all the complaints about the sound in Tenet, here the use of sound elevated the film much like it did in Dunkirk.
Pretty amazing though that the theater I was in was packed and it's all because of Nolan. He is the one of the few directors right now who can draw audiences for a 3 hour dialogue driven biopic. His time for winning Best Director is finally here and I couldn't be happier.
I'm giving this 4.5 for now but could change to 5 stars upon a rewatch. It's that great.
