Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer

i felt the atomic bomb right through my bones. it was everywhere, all my senses were struck by its power. it's hard to describe the intense feelings that this film projected on me. it's not just a film, it's an experience.

Oppenheimer is as emotionally catastrophic as the real events it represents were. it's more than just a "war", "historic" "drama" film. it's about life and how some Men, just want to watch the world burn. it's about creating something, knowing what it might do but not everything. it's the same feeling as when we do something wrong and care the consequences on our shoulders for the rest of our lives. creating something which sole purpose is destruction, massive destruction. potentially our planet's annihilation. the bomb isn't the problem per se, some Men are.

Cillian Murphy is the soul and heart of this film. nothing he has ever done hasn't been but great, astonishing acting. it was as if it wasn't Cillian who was there but Robert Oppenheimer. if he doesn't at the very least get an Oscar nomination....it's an absolute crime. i could go on for hours and hours regarding his perfomance, but I just want to make sure everyone knows that he was perfect, from start to finish. the rest of the cast is out of this world, I cannot possible write about all of them (but yes they were all marvellous), I do want, however, to highlight Robert Downey Jr., he was splendid! one of his best roles ever.

regarding technical aspects, there's nothing about it that doesn't scream masterpiece! the sound mixture, the music score, all that builds to the time of destruction and even afterwards. the sound tells a story of its own. I've never felt sound as in this film. the cinematography was beyond beautiful. I'm not sure how to put it but it was magnificent. I'm still trying to figure out how Christopher Nolan achieved the recreations of the bomb without using cgi (i saw a video of him explaining but still...). I will never not love his films; overrated or not, he's one of my favourite filmmakers and storytellers. definitely an amazing characters (at least the protagonists) study and overall better writing than in his previous films– especially regarding female characters. he finally gave than depth. no more two dimensional cardboard-like characters. he did put everything into this. i hope he sleeps sound and safe knowing that he created this marvellous piece of art.

i bet the people that said this was going to be boring are feeling very silly right now. imagine skipping one of the best films ever made. A MASTERPIECE!!! i will defend this film with teeth and claws (also, this doesn't mean I'm not excited for Barbie because I am !!!! very much so!!! they're just so different)
