Gurl, I just finished binging this season and I am ending the year the way I started it: full of existential angst. Happy New Year, y’all! 🙃

Downsizing 2017
My brother made me go see this with him and Laura Dern's minute-long cameo saved this movie. She was EVERYWHERE this year and we are blessed because of it.

I, Tonya 2017
Great acting all around. Margot Robbie's a superstar, Sebastian Stan is a loveable doofus and Allison Janney's just a good old-fashioned mega bitch. I could've done without a lot of the abusive parts being played for comedy so much. I think it would've had a lot more of an emotional impact. But damn, that scene of Margot in her dressing room getting ready for the '94 Olympics was OUTSTANDING.

All the Money in the World 2017
Michelle Williams and Christopher Plummer killed it. They were both great and stole the show. Kevin Spacey who? Mark Wahlberg is hot, but his acting needs some work, like a lot, especially in this. Props to Ridley Scott for giving no fucks and making and also reshooting the movie the way he wanted. Oh, and that telephone smack was everything.

Saint 2010
Completely ridiculous and over the top, which is basically everything I love. I wouldn’t classify it as that much of a Christmas movie because of it being set on December 5, but bitch, it’s close enough and I will definitely be revisiting this next December. Frank could get it a million times over. Sidenote: Do not watch the dubbed version. Find the original version. It’s worth it and I’m sure it makes the film way more enjoyable. Dubbing is the devil.

Dude kept saying that poor kid Moss Garcia’s name over and over again like he was frigging Keyser Soze or something. Amazing.

King Kelly 2012
I have a headache. Sure, there's some pretty good social commentary going on and everything in King Kelly, but it's executed so poorly that its message gets lost along the way. It wants to be smarter than it is and never even gets close to being there. If you're up for watching annoying people doing increasingly more annoying things, then this one's for you. Just keep some Tylenol on hand.

Red Christmas 2016
Who knew Pro-Lifers were horror fans? While this film definitely leans waaaaaay more to one side of the abortion debate than the other, as a horror flick, it's still a decent outing and one I was definitely not expecting. I think the humor was unintentional, but sometimes I just had to laugh to keep the uncomfortableness at bay, haha. There are problems galore in this little Christmas horror flick, including the unsaid but obvious stance on abortion, but I still…

The Killing of a Sacred Deer 2017
Watching a Yorgos Lanthimos film is like stepping out of reality and into an alternate universe for a couple of hours. Every single thing looks the same but it all feels a tiny bit different from the world we live in. The people say words that have the same meaning yet project them in an ambivalent, purposely dispassionate way. I really hope Yorgos always stays true to his vision and never strays from it because all of his movies have…
