i really liked when academy award winner viola davis and academy award winner sandra bullock yelled at each other
Pitting Viola Davis against Sandra Bullock in an acting shouting match is like doing a roaring contest between a lion and a house cat. It simply isn’t fair
The Unforgivable is a drama thriller that's set in a classic hard-boiled world but could have done a lot more. Sandra Bullock stars as Ruth, a woman who served her time for a violent crime, get out early on good behavior, and renters society after 20 years. She tries to put her life back together while looking for the sister she left behind when she was incarcerated, but the world refuses to forgive her. Perfect title. We got a great performance from Bullock, except for the flashback, it was seriously confusing her playing as her younger character’s self. Viola Davis and Jon Bernthal were underutilized. I think this would have been better as a tv series since they did not set up the plot or subplot well enough leaving a lot of holes and lacking emotion with its storytelling. Unfortunately, the story wasn't developed enough, it ended up being just an average film on Netflix.
Sandra Bullock’s frown lines have more depth than the movie itself, but it’s also such a mood.
It’s no surprise that Nora Fingscheidt’s “The Unforgivable” is based on a British miniseries (2009’s “Unforgiven,” to be exact), as this Sandra Bullock ex-con drama about a woman released into the merciless cold of Snohomish, Wisconsin, after a 20-year murder stint is gray enough to seem like it still has one foot planted in Yorkshire. What is surprising, however, is that the ITV show had a cumulative runtime of only 135 minutes, a curious factoid when you consider that Fingscheidt’s version — a Netflix movie which runs just 21 minutes shorter than its source material — is so patchy and spread thin that you’d sooner guess it was trimmed down from a sprawling eight-hour epic.
“The Unforgivable” could have been…
what's unforgivable is how they managed to waste a movie starring BOTH sandra bullock and viola davis. with that said, their talents still irrevocably shone though. both performances, specifically during a heated exhange, almost completely compensated for every flaw there was with the screenplay. maybe that alone is a reason worthy enough to watch this.
(sandra bullock's character literally looks like she reeks. yes, i still want her.)
