We are hit with existentialism right from the start and are graced with Camus’ “The Stranger,” to Jacob looking up at the advertisement board seeing the words “exit and hell.” I can’t help but think of the great existentialist playwright Sartre. Sartre’s most famous play comes to mind “No Exit.” In brief, Sartre is saying hell is other people.

“No one can tell you what it feels like. Shame.”
How do you condense Lee Miller’s life and accomplishments into a two-hour film? It’s an almost impossible task, but Ellen Kraus manages to do her justice. Kate Winslet delivers an impeccable and believable performance. I usually don’t read Ebert’s reviews, but I made an exception this time. Why was it rated 2 1/2? That pissed me right off. -
