Castle in the Sky 1986
The movie hasn't started yet so I'm just gonna get this rating out of the way.

Hell or High Water 2016
In a summer where so many big budget movies crashed and burned (Suicide Squad, X-Men: Apocalypse, Civil War) leave it to the shoestring budget films to shoulder the load and make this summer worth suffering through.
Hell or High Water is in many ways unexceptional. The set-up and most of the plot were familiar to me. What makes it stand out are 3 fantastic performances from it's leads, with special credit going to Ben Foster. If the Oscars were tomorrow,…

Mission: Impossible – Fallout 2018
Don't roll your eyes too hard at what I'm about to say. You could hurt yourself.
Fallout is The Dark Knight of the Mission: Impossible series.
Sorry to be so derivative, it's just true.
Between the moral introspection, blood-pumping action sequences and sky-high stakes, there is simply no other reasonable conclusion to come to.

Annihilation 2018
This definitely would have made my top 10 if it came out last year like it was originally intended to.
Upon rewatch, a lot of subtle hints, cues and touches I didn't notice my first time around jumped out at me. It confirmed and debunked some of the conceptions I had regarding the movie.
I highly recommend checking this out again if you can.

Blade Runner 2049 2017
Oh my god. Oh. My. God.
Cinemá is alive and well, folks, and it will be as long as people give guys like this $185 million dollars and no restraints.
I don't think any director in history has had a more meteoric rise than Denis Villeneuve. He has nothing left to prove, but a hell of a lot more to say.
With regards to the movie, I'm at a bit of a loss for words atm (just like I was…

Kubo and the Two Strings 2016
A perfect blend of Mulan, Harry Potter and Hamilton.
There are no excuses to miss out on seeing Kubo.
