★★★★½ Watched 17 Mar 2018
Maybe I'm still in the post-movie high, but I'm pretty sure that Love, Simon is an instant classic in the coming-of-age genre. Or the high school genre. Or the romance drama. If you don't believe me, ask the girl who sat a few rows behind me and sobbed for the entire 1:40 runtime.
I absolutely adored this movie in every way. The screenplay, the performances, the characters, the story, the direction, all of it. It is one of those rare…

A movie with this much hype mandates a second viewing. You just have to watch it without the anticipation of getting your 2 year long questions answered. That’s when the story presents itself.
I’m still less than 24 hours removed from my first viewing, but I feel like my opinion on this movie has taken full shape. More hardcore Star Wars fans should take a few extra days, if not weeks, before they form theirs.
For me, The Last Jedi…

When it comes to starring in a 2018 sequel, third time's the charm for Josh Brolin.
As unexpected as it is unconventional, Soldado is coming out at a time where its subject matter has a bigger life outside of the theater than in it. We've spent a lot of time in the last couple weeks thinking about immigrants, the border, our relationship with Mexico and wondering how to deal with them while still keeping our morality.
Soldado offers the unique…

Sorry, gotta bump this down a half star. As much as I love these characters, the script needed some work.
Something I noticed the first time around, and now kinda bugs me is how freaking fast this goes in the first act.
Conversations needed to set up arcs, relationships and conflicts aren’t allowed to breathe, which makes it hard to leave an impression, making the experience feel a little muddled.
So many moments in the first film are conveyed purely…

Maybe I was just in the right mood, but I kinda loved this.
I don’t think I’ve ever made this crituque before, but this was probably a little overwritten. There was an artillery of chekov’s guns all loaded with 1st Act/3rd Act dialogue callbacks. For a movie as weird as this, I almost thought it should be weirder. Oh well. I still adored it.

Hostiles doesn't reinvent the wheel or break any new ground, but it does offer a solid addition to the 21st-century western canon.

Skyscraper is one of those action movies with the callbacks, MacGuffins, memorable henchpeople who you want to see more of, callbacks, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo music, Hong Kong settings to play well in Asian markets, callbacks, The Rock, and callbacks.
There's nothing too special here, and nothing that offends me. Just an ok action movie with the biggest movie star in the world doing biggest movie star in the world things.
Grade: 6/10

The laughs were a little inconsistent, but that doesn't take away from Blockers steady stream of charm and relevance.
Mike Pence would hate this movie, which should give you all the more reason to check it out.

I love the Kennedys and good movies. I love and know the latter well enough to know this ain't one of them.
Chappaquiddick fails at the basic requirement a movie has to do. With all the accents, prosthetics, in-jokes, long stares and scenery chewing, this movie never actually pulled me into the story.
I never found the point where I should start caring.

If you're looking for a sequel to a fun movie to challenge you on a emotional level: watch Paddington 2.
If you're looking for a sequel to push its narrative in a fresh direction: watch Paddington 2.
If you're looking for a script that has anything resembling ambition or ingenuity: watch Paddington 2.
If you want to continue giving these movies a pass even though I'm positive you know this one was kinda sucky because #Marvel #Is #Fun: Maybe watch…
