The press was to serve the governed, not the governors.

I cried again. I feel no shame. Spielberg is a master.

Like everyone, I was caught off guard by the reception this movie, no, this film has gotten. I thought: it can’t be that good.

Turns out, I was wrong. And it didn’t take me very long to find out why. It’s a rare movie that I don’t think anyone can outright dislike.

Paddington 2 is truly excellent and deserves to be in the conversation of the best sequels of the decade. Maybe ever?

2018’s slate of films sure has its work cut out for it.

P.S. Did anyone else get major Grand Budapest Hotel vibes from this or was it just me?

We're gonna do 3 years of psychology in 3 minutes.

    I cried during this movie.

    I laughed during this movie.

I forgot to breathe during this movie.

It's not as consistently entertaining as Steve Jobs or The Social Network but those last 45 minutes might be the best of the entire year, and can go toe-to-toe with Sorkin’s aforementioned masterpieces.

I'm going to do what people have been begging psychologists to do for hundreds of years: give you the answers.

Have directors begun to run towards horror movies instead of away from them?

Hollywood's most profitable and popular genre has seen a renaissance in the last few years. Auteur sensibilities and nuance are being sprinkled into films which had been (justifiably) cast aside as tween magnets with no place outside of the fall movie season.

Starting with 2013's The Conjuring, certain horror movies have risen above that, receiving critical praise and most recently Academy prestige.

    Naturally, the apex of this…

One of the things that makes U2's The Edge such an incredible guitar player is that he can't be mimicked.

If you gave Keith Richards, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Jonny Buckland, and Jimmy Page each a month and unlimited resources to perfectly recreate Edge's playing on Beautiful Day or With or Without You, some of them would get close, but nobody would actually be able to do it.

That's a long way of saying only Soderberg can do…

Robocop + Blade Runner = Upgrade

Once upon a time, movies weren't afraid to end on a down note.
The Godfather ended on a lie that would ultimately lead to the demise of a family.

In Rosemary's Baby she gives herself to the darkness and becomes the mother of the antichrist.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest's final image is that of the main character being smothered to death post-lobotomy.

    Spoilers btw.

Upgrade isn't anywhere near as good as those…

Finally, an answer to the age-old question: What if Kingsman was good?

Red Sparrow has been circled on my movie calendar for quite some time. Mostly due to Jennifer Lawrence finally shedding her Hunger Games skin. Now she gets to make movies instead of being in movies that make her. Between this and mother! I can't wait to see what other things she tries to get away with.

The end result is a deliciously violent, twist-for-the-sake-of-a-twist spy movie I love to see every now and again.

I have no interest in living in a universe where we're cool with Marvel copy and pasting scripts while slamming Kingsman for being whatever it is we're upset at it for being.

I like this movie. I even like it better than the first one (which isn't saying much tbh). I can't remember the last time I saw a blockbuster movie with this much balls. Vaughn and Goldman do everything you're not supposed to do in modern-day comic book movie. …

    Joe Biden ✅

So many wins these last few months, I love it.

The human stuff is still pretty bad (love how often they show a character looking at a bended photograph of them with someone from their *dark past*) but there are a few kinda fun parts as opposed to KOTM which was a beating.

The monster stuff is still pretty cool and I had fun laughing at the goofy parts so 3 stars I guess.

Sorry guys, I didn't hate this. I even kind of liked it. Not in a this is a good movie kind of way, though. More of an it was watchable and I didn't really hate any of it way.

That being said, I definitely empathize with anyone who actively despises this. Even if Jurassic Park isn't that special of a movie to me, I know seeing it was a formative experience for a lot of people. To grow up loving…
