The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley 2019
I would like to wish a pre-emptive congratulations to Jennifer Lawrence for her Academy Award winning performance as Elizabeth Holmes.
This is a Three Identical Strangers kind of what-the-fuck documentary you just have to see to believe. The story of this company touches on the technology boom, the fuck the system attitude of youth and the devastatingly human optimism at the heart of every colossal innovative failure like this one.
Someone had better throw a few bags of money at Sorkin to write this, because it could seriously be his next masterpiece. I’ll settle for Adam McKay if I must.
Grade: 9.5/10

Bad Education 2019
Holy shit can Cory Finley make a movie.
In an alternate universe where I didn’t seek out Thoroughbreds or somehow didn’t love it as much as I do, it’s comforting to know that I would have become a fan of Finley either way.
Bad Education is a fantastic follow-up to the aforementioned social thriller, occupying what is becoming my go-to genre (true crime thriller) and showing us how good those can be. Using just 108 minutes to tell its story…
