I fast forwarded through the young Vito scenes this time. The movie is, dare I say, better without them?
As cute as it is to see young versions of everyone, I just don’t care or need to know anything about Vito’s backstory. Yeah, seeing him immigrate to America ties in well with the narrative, but I think that point came across in the present day scenes just fine.
Speaking of the present day narrative, it all finally came together for…
This movie gives me everything I need as a film fan.
The Godfather is a full course, 5-star meal of immaculate filmmaking. Right now I have it as my second favoite movie ever, and it’ll stay there for a very, very long time.
These people didn’t die so some Ayn Rand reading, r/The_Donald subscribed, Jordan Peterson/Charlie Kirk/Tomi Lahren consuming douchebag named Trevor can put on his nicest polo and try to re-legitimize Nazi’s.
For those who say “picking sides politically is dumb” or whatever, keep in mind that one side has literal Nazi’s on it. It should be a pretty easy call to make.
Even though this was certified a couple months ago with the video-game, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is yet another piece of evidence that no single property has had a better year than Spider-Man in 2018.
And Spider-Verse just might be the best of them all.
Eye-popping visuals, pitch-perfect comedy, touching dramatic moments, the best Stan Lee cameo, and a fantastic script add up to make this a movie you need to see…
This has got to be the first time I've ever knocked a star off for a musical score. Man, this had a bad one.
But I loved everything else! The cast, story, setting were all pitch perfect. Robin's the heart of the movie, but the group of kids was the soul of it.
I guess 2018 is the year of re-evaluating my bad movie opinions. First it was 2001. Now it’s Akira.
This movie is incredible.
Great action, great animation, an ALL TIME GREAT SCORE (!!!!!) and one of the coolest endings ever.
I’m keeping it at a 4 for now, just because I’m still a little murky on some of the finer plot details. I understand the sparknotes version of events, but I’m not quite sure how well they connect.
