Christian Ha’s review published on Letterboxd:
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
My original review still stands, and I can confidently say It’s a Wonderful Life will remain a staple of my Christmas tradition for years to come. Watching it again this season, especially with my mom, felt truly special. This is probably her all-time favorite movie, and I can understand why—it’s become one of my personal favorites as well, not just for the holidays but overall.
Lately, we’ve been sharing a little holiday watch-along, revisiting classic and meaningful films together, and it’s been such a nice experience. Watching this particular movie with her felt like the highlight of that tradition. There’s something timeless about the story’s warmth and sincerity that resonates deeply every time I watch it.
For me, this isn’t just a Christmas movie—it’s the Christmas movie. Its themes of self-worth, community, and the impact of one life on countless others are universal and profoundly moving. James Stewart delivers a performance that is as heartfelt as it is iconic, and Frank Capra’s direction imbues every frame with genuine emotion.
More than just a film, It’s a Wonderful Life feels like a gift. It’s a reminder of what truly matters and how the smallest acts of kindness can ripple outward in ways we can’t always see. Watching it has become not only a celebration of the season but a reflection on gratitude and love. I’m certain this tradition of revisiting it every Christmas will only grow more meaningful with time.
