Early Life[]
Not much had been written about Dodonko's early life prior to her enrolling at school, though despite her Crimson Demon upbringing, she was shown to give less thought on establishing coolness and more on romantic fantasies.[1]
School Days Arc[]
Dodonko had already began growing close to Funifura ever since their commencement ceremony in Red Prison,[2] though compared to the top students like Megumin, Yunyun, and Arue, her grades were only mediocre.[3]
At school after classes ended on a hot summer day, Dodonko was telling her classmates how wishes made thrice upon a shooting star would become true, followed by the discussion topic drifting off to curses, when Pucchin came telling that classes would be postponed for an hour tomorrow because the villagers planned to make it snow overnight for lowering the temperature. Making it to the snowy schoolyard early next morning, she teamed up with Funifura to pelt Megumin with snowballs upon her arrival, which in turn prompted Arue as well as Yunyun to join in, before enjoying the shaved ice sold to them by Nerimaki and indeed attending classes late as a result. After spending the ensuing summer vacation which came early playing around, Dodonko on the last day realised that she didn't do her summer homework, so along with Funifura went to ask Megumin for help at her home, only to find her in addition to Arue and Nerimaki also in the same situation. The five of them next headed for the chief's home, where it turned out Yunyun had finished her homework at the start of the vacation. Guiltily accepting Yunyun's offer of letting them copy her homework, which under Dodonko's spurring they completed at nightfall, she joined the others to Demon's Hill for fulfilling Yunyun's wish of watching stars with friends, though they ended up only looking at the fireworks under a cloudy sky courtesy of the villagers battling against the Great Spirit of the Summer. The girls soon witnessed somebody summoning a shooting star, so in accordance with her belief, Dodonko made a wish for her to get a boyfriend.[4]
After school restarted, Dodonko like her classmates also became fascinated with the black cat Megumin began bringing to school regularly, who the class decided to temporarily call "Kuro".[5]
As the lonely Yunyun once more studied guidebooks for making friends with inhuman creatures during self-study while Pucchin was out dealing with monsters around the Crimson Demon Village, going along with Funifura's plan, Dodonko and her approached asking Yunyun to become their friend. She and Funifura later ate lunch together with Yunyun and Megumin, during which the girls discussed topics of romance.[6]
On the day Pucchin called for field training in the forest, Dodonko and Funifura "cuckolded" Yunyun away from Megumin as the three of them made up a team. But as the class wielding oversized mock weapons went around finishing off the weak monsters Pucchin had frozen stiff for them, Dodonko upon noticing a Lovely Rabbit encased in ice, ganged up with Funifura in an attempt to force Yunyun into stabbing the cute monster with her real short sword, only to be brought to tears when the short sword was abruptly forced into her own hands by Megumin, who physically pressed her forward to stab the Lovely Rabbit.[6]
The girls all paused when Arue alerted them to the presence of a Servant of the Dark God nearby, then as they panickedly scattered in different directions, Dodonko and Funifura ran straight to Pucchin for alerting him. Subsequent to Pucchin defeating the Demon just in time and letting the class off early, she and Funifura invited Yunyun to accompany them home as well as to school the following day, though Yunyun went back with Megumin anyways.[6]
(In the anime, the girls were instead attacked by a Gargoyle, prompting a panicked Dodonko to flee alongside her teammates, Megumin's team as well as Nerimaki. They were subsequently rescued by Bukkororii after jumping over the pit he had gotten himself trapped in, though his ensuing stalker antics disgusted Dodonko so much she joined the other girls into abandoning him. Dodonko and the other girls later reached a hill overlooking the village, before witnessing it being destroyed along with the Gargoyles swarming it by the overzealous school faculty and some other villagers, who then had to rebuild it overnight)[7]
Following some more weeks of school (where in the anime she and other classmates buried Bukkororii in books after he Teleported into the library they were studying at and began listing how he stalked Soketto)[3], Dodonko asked Yunyun for money so Funifura can buy medicine needed by her brother who had fallen ill, something the loner indeed hand them on the following morning. Dodonko and Funifura though barely had time to celebrate their success before Megumin walked up and called them out for taking advantage of Yunyun's loneliness, then heard her promise to come up with the medicine. After the day of classes, one of which taught magic item creation and involved Megumin mercilessly killing a cute Duxion, Dodonko was called out alongside Funifura to the back of the school, where Megumin handed them the vial of medicine for Funifura's brother that she had made during class. They accordingly complied with Megumin's demand to return Yunyun's money, and were warned not to exploit Yunyun like that again, though upon them teasing Megumin over her loving relationship with Yunyun, the pair got beaten up.[1]
At some point during the period, Dodonko on a day without school went to play badminton with Funifura, but after running into a lonely Yunyun on the way, the three of them as well as Arue and Megumin who suddenly popped out all played together.[8]
Journey to Axel Arc[]
When Yunyun invited some classmates to her home for Megumin's farewell party, Dodonko was one of those who attended, and gifted Megumin with a magic rod fashioned by Funifura's father using the magical wood she and Funifura gathered had gathered out of gratitude for the medicine. She also joined Funifura and Arue at the village's teleportation station the following day to see Megumin off on her way to Arcanletia[9] (whereas in the anime, Dodonko only bid farewell to Megumin at the station, and gifted her the magic rod there)[10].
Mid Spring Arc[]
While the village was being rebuilt from the destruction wrought by Sylvia, she and Funifura ran into Megumin and Yunyun, the former of whom had during the battle revealed herself as one who wielded Explosion Magic and now clobbered the pair for teasing her over it. The two of them next praised an embarrassed Yunyun over the Crimson Demon style introduction she had made when facing off against Sylvia, though upon Megumin declaring Kazuma to be her boyfriend with whom she performed intimate acts, they both ran off weeping in jealousy.[11]
(In the anime, Dodonko partnered with Funifura and Arue to welcome Megumin and Yunyun's return to the village as they were taking Kazuma's party on a tour of Red Prison. She later joined the other villagers in evacuation during Sylvia's razing of the village, but while participating in the villagers' counterattack alongside Funifura, found her magic nullified by the Ancient Dispel function of the Mage-Killer. Cornered by Goblin soldiers working for the Devil King's Army, they were saved when Yunyun dropped a landslide atop the monsters, following which Dodonko let Wiz drain her magical powers so she could empower Megumin and Yunyun' final attack)[12]
Cursed Relic Arc[]
Having found herself a job at the village's general store as a part-time grocer,[13] upon Yunyun's return to the village less than a month since Sylvia's attack to ask around about a small metallic slate, Dodonko under the influence of Arue agreed to help out after Kazuma's party also arrived, though she was shocked to hear of them all Level Drained of their levels and skills, and was unable to find any clues by the end of the day.[14] Later as the party, having successfully retrieved the metallic slate, prepared to head back for Axel, Dodonko decided not to join Funifura in accompanying their journey because she still had work to do in the village.[15]
