The Ocean Bay Marina is a marina featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, located in Ocean Beach, Vice City. In 1986, the setting of GTA Vice City Tommy Vercetti comes here to receive missions from Juan Cortez. However in GTA Vice City Stories the setting isn't in any part key to the storyline other than when Vic has to get fake photographs of Jerry Martinez with a DEA agent in the mission The Mugshot Longshot.
Design[]
The marina is located right across from the Marina Sands Hotel. The building contains a curved walkway to the side of it, with two headstones standing out with a picture of an anchor on it, although in GTA Vice City Stories the stones are blank. It also features an underground carpark where random vehicles will spawn (only in GTA Vice City).
At the backside of the building there are two pier entrances – Pier 1 to the north, and Pier 2 to the south. In GTA Vice City, there is also a southern part of the Pier 2, which has been partly destroyed, rendering it inaccessible. At the southern ends of both piers are wooden ramps allowing land vehicles to jump from Pier 1 to Pier 2, and from Pier 2 to the destroyed south portion of Pier 2, although with no way to jump back to the previous parts. The ramp located on the eastern end of the destroyed pier allows the player to jump back to Vice City Beach. In the water there are wooden boards slanted on rocks that can be used as ramps for stunting.
The marina undergoes several cosmetic changes in its appearance in GTA Vice City Stories, appearing more undeveloped circa 1984, as its car park is partly under construction or renovation, and its docks are smaller in size and mostly constructed of wood; only two ramps for jumps are available on the docks.
In GTA Vice City, both of the piers' gates are initially closed, however after completing the mission Phnom Penh '86, the Pier 1 gate opens, while the Pier 2 gate never actually opens at any point in the storyline. In GTA Vice City Stories, both gates are open during the entire game.
Influence[]
The Ocean Bay Marina is mostly based on the Miami Beach Marina located in Miami Beach, due to its location in Vice Beach being analogical to the real life equivalent, along with the nearby presence of the similar surrounding high-rise buildings. However, the main building of the Ocean Bay Marina is entirely fictional. The marina also lacks any kind of breakwater structure, despite being located on the major bay, which might explain the absence of wooden docks and the partial destruction of Pier 2 in GTA Vice City.
The signs on the piers' gates prohibiting certain activities (roller blading, skate boarding, bicycle riding, fishing or swimming) within the marina's premises are textured using the real life photos of the signs at the Miami Beach Marina. The in-game version also has the words "FUN AT ALL" added to the bottom of the sign.

Trivia[]
- The marina's parking lot is the lowest point on the whole map in both games, with its floor being located around 2,5 in-game units below the sea level.
- In GTA Vice City a small chunk of water can be noticed when driving out of the marina's underground parking lot. It disappears once the player gets close to it, as this chunk of water is an LOD water model.
- During stormy weather in GTA Vice City Stories, waves can be noticed on the shore of the marina, revealing themselves out of the ground. Both of these glitches are present, as there are chunks of water programmed to appear under the marina's shore.
