Uncut microwave scene from S5E17 - Like the Beep Beep Beep of the Tom Tom
When this episode was released on DVD, a portion of a scene in Act 2 was removed. In the original airing, before Blanche enters the kitchen, Sophia goes to the cupboard and finds her instant popcorn is missing. Dorothy and Rose reveal they are selling the microwave due to a risk of it hurting Blanche. After Blanche exits, Sophia makes a joke about them giving up a favorite microwave snack for Blanche. These lines are also removed from the DVD. When Blanche laments that life has no meaning, Sophia asks if anyone wants popcorn.
The scene was removed from the DVD release due to threats of a lawsuit from microwave manufacturers, due to microwaves no longer being dangerous to people with pacemakers.
Goofs[]
After the two transportation people get Blanche to move over on the gurney. They move her out of the room and down the hall with the side rail on the side she transferred over. Still down. This is something that's not done in a hospital setting. The rails of the cart, gurney, or bed are supposed to be up unless a patient is being ambulated. And definitely, when that patient is being transported. Falls are a huge problem in hospitals. And serious steps are always a part of patient care.
