Ben by Michael Jackson, is featured in Michael, the eleventh episode of Season Three. It is sung to Blaine by Finn, Kurt, and Rachel.
Ben is sung at Blaine's house when Blaine gets injured when he is slushied by Sebastian. The slushie contained rock salt which damaged Blaine's right eye. When Blaine says it's a shame he is going to miss Michael week, Finn tells him that Kurt, Rachel, and he brought Blaine a little of Michael week, and they serenade him with the song.
Lyrics[]
Kurt (Finn and Rachel):
Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I'll never be alone
And you, my friend will see
You've got a friend in me
(You've got a friend in me)
Rachel (Finn and Kurt):
Ben, you're always running here and there
(Here and there)
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
(Anywhere)
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's something you should know
You've got a place to go
(You've got a place to go)
Kurt:
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us," now it's "we"
Finn and Rachel:
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us," now it's "we"
Finn:
Ben, most people would turn you away
(Kurt and Rachel: Turn you away)
I don't listen to a word they say
(Kurt and Rachel: A word they say)
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
Finn and Rachel:
A friend
Kurt:
Like Ben
Finn and Rachel:
A friend
Kurt:
Like Ben
Trivia[]
- Chris Colfer said in Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz's podcast And THAT's What You Really Missed that this number was one of his least favorites to film.
Mistakes[]
- Rachel's cup disappears partway through the scene.
- The note that Rachel blows on the pitch pipe is nowhere near the correct starting pitch for the song.
