Misaki Kuramoto (倉本 岬 Kuramoto Misaki) is a supporting character in the anime series Free! beginning with Free! The Movie -Take Your Marks-. He is a young swimmer befriended by Makoto Tachibana and Haruka Nanase when they arrive in Tokyo.

Appearance

Misaki has reddish amber eyes and short brown hair. When swimming, he wears long swim shorts and a red standard issue swim cap. At his debut, he is seen wearing a blue vest over a long sleeve yellow shirt and green pants.

Personality

He is a self-composed and determined boy who is dedicated to his sport and does fairly well for his age. After running into Haruka and Makoto, he is quite comfortable speaking his mind, surprising Haruka by asking why he only swims freestyle, a somewhat pert question to ask a mere acquaintance, but effective in getting Haruka to consider his options. Misaki is open to coaching and does well under Makoto's tutelage, once Makoto takes over the position following Nao Serizawa's departure.

Story

Misaki is a pre-teenage boy who Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana encounter while they're looking for an apartment for Haruka in Tokyo as seen in Free! The Movie -Take Your Marks-. He appears again in Free!-Dive to the Future- where he works with Makoto as his part-time coach. He is, more than anything else, motivated by his desire to beat his rival, Kaoru Natsume, in swimming.
