Rhomphaia (ロンパイア, Ronpaia?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is generally a powerful broadsword or spear with high attack power, and sometimes increases Defense as well.

Description
Rhomphaia is a second tier weapon for Fang, obtained by upgrading a max level Partisan with a Perovskite. It is part of the Magic Defense synthesis group, and at max level dismantles into Wicked Fang (x18), Segmented Carapace (x12) and a Partisan.

Rhomphia is the third-strongest broadsword, bested by the Eclipse and the Estreledge. It provides 57 Attack and 5 Defense. It is obtained as a reward for mission 268 "Food For Truth".
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]
Rhomphaia is the second-strongest broadsword, bested by the Estrella. It provides 65 Attack and 5 Defense, and teaches Soul Crush for 350 AP to the Raptor. It can be obtained from the Heavy Swords B category in the Bazaar for a High Arcana, Adamantite and Tanned Beast Hide.

The Rhomphaia is a polearm-like weapon used by the Thracians as early as 400BC. Greek usage of the word came to eventually have Rhomphaia translated as "giant sword". The description from the games fit its profile as a long bladed-weapon with a short hilt.
