The Rapier (レイピア, Reipia?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It's a basic weapon, often the first rapier in the game.

Final Fantasy[]

The Rapier is the first sword the player can acquire. It provides 9 Attack, 5 Accuracy and 4 Critical, and can be equipped by the Warrior, Knight, Thief, Ninja, Red Mage and Red Wizard. It can be bought in Cornelia for 8 gil in the Easy version or 10 gil in Normal.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Rapier is a sword that provides 33 damage, 224 delay, and Parrying Skill +5. It deals 8.84 damage per second and accumulates 60 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 64 Warrior, Red Mage, Paladin, Bard, Dragoon, Corsair, and Dancer. It can only be obtained through synthesis.

Vagrant Story[]

The Rapier is a piercing weapon, providing 1 RISK, 8 STR and 3 Range, while decreasing AGI by 1 and providing no change to INT.

The Final Fantasy Legend[]

Rapier can be bought in Base Town, Town of Hero, and South Town for 24 GP. It has 50 uses and an attack power of 2, the damage formula for Rapier is base on Agility.

Final Fantasy Legend II[]

Rapier has a sword icon before its name. It can be bought for 400 GP in First Town and Desert Town. It has 50 uses, it also increases a Robot's HP by 18 and increases their Agl by 4. The damage formula for Rapier is the user's Agl x7.

Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008)[]

The Rapier is a level 36 sword equippable by the Warrior of Light, Firion, The Emperor, Onion Knight, Cecil, Bartz, Cloud, Squall, Tidus, and Gabranth. It increases the equipped character's initial Bravery. It provides ATK +4.

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy[]

The Rapier is a level 30 sword equippable by the Warrior of Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil, Kain, Bartz, Exdeath, Gilgamesh, Cloud, Squall, Laguna, Zidane, Tidus, Vaan, Gabranth, and Lightning. It boosts the equipped character's initial Bravery and provides ATK +27.

Etymology[]

A rapier is a slender, sharply pointed sword, ideally used for thrusting attacks, used mainly by civilians in Early Modern Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries.
