The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants is an American animated web television series produced by DreamWorks Animation that is based on the film Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, in turn based on the Captain Underpants series of books by Dav Pilkey.[1]
Taking place after the film, the series will continue the adventures of pranksters and comic book artists George Beard and Harold Hutchins, and their creation of Captain Underpants.
The series premiered on July 13th 2018,[2] and Season 2 premiered on February 8 2019.[3] Season 3 will be released on July 19, 2019. The running time is 24 minutes.
Synopsis[]
Facing one misadventure after another, two rascally fourth-grade pals turn their ornery principal into Captain Underpants, a superhero looking to save the day.

- At the end of the Season 3 episode, Harold and George mention the show is ending, but an airplane flies by with a banner saying there's more Captain Underpants coming soon which gets them all excited about it.
- Other Sophie, Gooch, and Dressy are the only characters in Season 2, being replaced by different counterparts in episodes 16, 18, 20, and 22.
- Captain Underpants appears in all episodes except for the first episode of Season 2, due to Krupp being fired.
- All episodes have comic books made by George Beard and Harold Hutchins except for the first episode of Season 3, due to George and Harold being separated.
- This will be the second DreamWorks Animation Television show:
- To transfer from Netflix to Peacock after The Adventures of Puss in Boots.
- To have original seasons on Netflix as the future seasons will be transferred to Peacock, first being Archibald's Next Big Thing.
- This is the only DreamWorks by Netflix outside the film franchises based on a movie.
- After The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants left Netflix on July 2025; the post-Netflix digital prints of the said show will have the following permanent changes:
- "The Preposterous Peril of the Pestering Poopacabra", "The Trashy Tale of the Tumultuous Tubbadump", "The Taxing Trauma of the Treacherous Tattle Trials: Part 1", "The Taxing Trauma of the Treacherous Tattle Trials: Part 2", and "The Worrisome Wedge of the Water Warmongers" (The said latter episode will also have Melvin Sneedly replacing Erica Wang as well).
- George Beard's right foot will be bare in a few scenes of "The Bizarre Blitzkrieg of the Bothersome Butterflies".
- A Socktopus episode will be replaced by a different that has lightbulb robots, like the one in the theme song.
