"The Last Adventure!" is a 3-part episode of DuckTales. It premiered on March 15, 2021 and serves as the series finale.
Plot[]
A Tale of Three Webbys![]
Webby is having her birthday party at Funzo's with many of her friends and allies in attendance. While partying, Fethry Duck accidentally breaks the news to Della that Donald is going on a worldwide vacation with Daisy, which angers her. Meanwhile, F.O.W.L. is watching the events unfold from their hidden base beneath the party complex. However, the ducks have the upper hand as they are well aware that they are being spied on and take out all cameras before they break into the base. Despite this, Bradford Buzzard still believes he and his associates are a step towards victory and prepare for "the last adventure". Having heard Launchpad talk in his sleep, and in a British accent, Huey manages to perfectly recreate a map of the base and split into two groups: Huey leading Donald, Della, Gizmoduck, Darkwing Duck, and Launchpad, while Scrooge leads Dewey, Louie, Webby, and Beakley. They scour the base, but find it empty. Instead, they discover two clones of Webby named June and May who exhibit happy personalities.
The ducks are at a loss as to why F.O.W.L. would clone Webby, but the situation frustrates and angers Beakley who refuses to allow her or anyone else in coerce with or question the two for answers. When Scrooge and Huey try to press her, she claims that her history is "classified". Webby sneaks away and manages to confront June and May as they do not know why they were cloned either. She shows them her family board, but the two of them are confused as none of the people on there, aside from Beakley and her parents, are directly related to her. As Webby realizes that she has never bothered to question Beakley about her parents, Lena and Violet enter the room just in time to see June messing with the board. Angered, Lena attacks her and she runs away crying.
Meanwhile, Donald prepares his trip with Daisy, only for Della to confront him about it. She admits that due to her being away for so long, she is afraid of him leaving her and wants to spend as much time with him. Donald manages to calm her by reminding her that they are still family. Beakley runs into Webby and tells her that she knows she is curious about the clones, but only tells her what her parents were like before leaving. Huey tells Dewey and Louie that he spotted June making off with the Split Sword of Swanstantine and concludes that she and May are still working for F.O.W.L. by trying to steal the Missing Mysteries. Webby overhears and tells the boys that she thinks that May and June are confused and that she needs to help them.
Scrooge confronts Beakley and demands an explanation from her as to why she is so hesitant about wanting to reveal anything, having done so himself in the past and paying the price for it. She seemingly agrees to tell him everything, only to knock him out with the intent to stop F.O.W.L. herself, planning to actually tell him if she survives. Webby finds May and June with the sword and the Blessed Bagpipes, and they reveal that they are bringing these items to F.O.W.L. with the intent to get answers themselves. While May leaves with the Missing Mysteries, Webby and June fight with the latter supposedly the victor. Huey arrives in the nick of time to witness May and June taking the objects and Webby hostage back onto a plane driven by Don Karnage. Huey sneaks aboard it just before it takes off. On the ship, it is revealed that Webby managed to overpower June and switched clothes with her.
The Lost Library of Isabella Finch![]
Dewey and Louie find Scrooge and tell Donald and Della what happened. Together they recruit Launchpad, Gizmoduck, Darkwing Duck, Gyro, Manny, Lena, Violet, Gosalyn, Lil' Bulb, and B.O.Y.D. and locate Huey's location through his phone. While Webby pretends to be June, Don Karnage takes them to the Library of Alexandria which has been converted into a F.O.W.L. headquarters. Huey reveals himself and is let in on Webby's plan as they are all brought inside. While "June" takes "Webby" away, Bradford Buzzard takes Huey and reveals that not only was Isabella Finch his grandmother, but that he was also the original Junior Woodchuck and has been trying to collect his grandmother's things to archive them.
The heroes find the Library and split into teams with the kids remaining on the plane and flying overhead with Dewey and Louie as co-pilots (but with the former the one flying) while Lena makes it invisible. Gyro and Manny are caught by the Phantom Blot and Pepper with Gene the Genie, who is trapped in the Blot's glove, identifying Manny as the fabled headless manhorse who will bring about the apocalypse. Blot uses the Blessed Bagpipes to bring his head to life, but petrifies his body while Pepper easily subdues Gyro. Darkwing, Gizmoduck, and Launchpad run into Steelbeak, who informs Don Karnage of the kids on the plane, and a fight breaks out. Steelbeak uses the intelligence enhancer on himself and easily takes the group out, rebooting the Gizmosuit off Fenton in the process. Outside the base, Scrooge, Donald, and Della battle an army of Eggheads as well as John D. Rockerduck and his assistant Jeeves (who was aged back to normal via water from the Fountain of the Foreverglades). Meanwhile, Bradford coerces Huey to have his family help him find the final Missing Mystery to complete the original guidebook, specifically Webby due to her skills, and believed Huey can get through her due to his logic and intelligence. Huey was about to agree despite the amount of information to take in on the condition that his family won't be hurt when Bradford was informed of the situation outside and had to pause the negotiations before leaving. When Huey spots Gyro, he discovers him imprisoned in a strange vault, along with Gandra Dee and Ludwig Von Drake, who has not aged since the 60s due to lack of time to. Von Drake reveals that Bradford was also the worst Junior Woodchuck and that his plan is to not just eradicate adventure, but all other related things; Gandra additionally revealed that Bradford harnessed the Solego Circuit to create a dimensional void to erase things from reality, and that many of their past allies and enemies are imprisoned as well. Huey is captured and placed in the prison by Bradford.
After being told by Pepper where the archives are, Webby tries looking through files and discovers something called "Project 87" with files on May and June. She looks into their files but is left even more confused. She discovers a 3rd file labeled April which depicts footage of Beakley stealing something from F.O.W.L. labs. She is forced to leave when Black Heron comes to retrieve her. The kids in the plane are attacked by Don Karnage, but through Louie's supportive words, Dewey turns the plane around and flies head on into him, causing both of them to crash. Beakley reveals herself and helps Scrooge defeat Rockerduck, but is shocked to learn that Webby has already been kidnapped. May appears with Black Heron and they knock both of them out.
Beakley is brought to an interrogation room with "June" and placed with the Harp of Mervana to uncover the truth about her history. Beakley reveals that when she was still a spy for her organization, she was tasked with taking down a secret weapon for F.O.W.L., only to learn that it was a small infant. Not wanting her to grow up to be a ruthless agent or killing machine, she adopted her and renamed her Webby Vanderquack, and came to live with Scrooge and give up her spy life. Realizing that she's the baby Beakley saved as well as "April" from the files, Webby reveals herself to Beakley, much to her shock. This revelation breaks Webby's heart and she is hurt and angered over the truth about her upbringing. Bradford arrives with May and the real June as Black Heron knocks out Beakley. Bradford promises Webby that he will give her all the answers if she helps him. Still feeling betrayed, Webby reluctantly agrees. Bradford pats Webby's head and says: "Welcome home, April."
Tale's End![]
The kids managed to survive the crash (though B.O.Y.D.'s body is missing, so Lil' Bulb used his as a replacement). As they all head inside to rescue their friends, Bradford takes Webby to the Papyrus of Binding, which suddenly reverts to normal, pleasing Bradford, who simply reveals to Webby that she was created to ultimately defeat Scrooge, now that she got him the one thing to do so. After May takes Webby down before she could do anything, he then visits Scrooge to tell him about his past, his dedicated study of containing the world's unpredictability, and his ultimate plan to rid the world of adventuring due to its chaotic nature, but Scrooge manages to free himself and attack him. Using the Sword of Swanstantine, Bradford becomes armored up and battles him. During the fight, he reveals that he anonymously informed Della about the Spear of Selene, which lead to her taking the ship and crashing it on the moon where she remained for years, with Bradford and his clones preventing Scrooge from finding her under false reasons. Resulting in Scrooge's family and adventurous spirit being broken for years. This revelation sends Scrooge into pure rage and continues to fight Bradford head on, with Bradford gaining the upper hand on Scrooge. Dewey and Louie find Huey and release Gyro, Gandra, and Drake, but they are captured again by May and June, who also have an emotionally defeated Webby tied up.
Lena and Violet save Gene and Manny from the Phantom Blot, with Manny unleashing his true self. B.O.Y.D. and Gosalyn arrive to help Launchpad fight Steelbeak, but they are imprisoned along with Lena, Violet, and Manny. This leaves Launchpad to fight Steelbeak alone, who unleashes Flintheart Glomgold, Magica De Spell, Ma Beagle, and the Beagle Boys, who have all been turned into mindless drones for him thanks to the retweeked intelligence enhancer. Bradford takes Scrooge to the roof of the building where he reveals the reproduced Solego Circuit producing a never ending black hole where he intends to trap all adventurers and adventure-related things in nonexistence, with Donald, Della, and Beakley's lives being threatened along with the rest of Scrooge's family (Scrooge himself would be spared because Bradford knows that he will find a way back from even this fate). Using the Papyrus, he offers a contract that Scrooge and his family will go free as long as there is no more adventuring. Scrooge points out that F.O.W.L. would still be a source of unpredictability even if he stopped. To prove his point, Bradford tosses his lackeys, including Black Heron, into the portal. Heron contently falls in, rather than being disappointed by her final moments, she is glad that Bradford has become a true villain as she gets sucked into the portal.
This action is seen by June and May, who realize that their whole purpose had simply been to reawaken a piece of paper to get rid of them; they are now lost without their mother figure. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are confused, as the Papyrus could only be reused if it ended up in the hands of Scrooge's direct descendant. Von Drake then reveals the truth: Webby is actually Scrooge's daughter; cloned directly from his DNA. This empowers Webby, who convinces June and May to find a new family, prompting them to release everyone. Back at the prison, Launchpad feels weakened as he is unable to save anyone. However, Darkwing and Fenton offer him words of encouragement along with all the other prisoners. With B.O.Y.D. having rebooted the Gizmoduck armor, Launchpad adorns himself in it and takes out all the villains, and releases the heroes.
With no other choice, Scrooge signs Bradford's contract, who decides to toss Donald into the portal anyway (on the basis that it was a special occasion). Thankfully, Gyro manages to turn it off just as that happens. Everyone comes together to fight Bradford (who amplifies into a more powerful and much more wicked warrior due to the Sword of Swanstantine), while Scrooge is literally bound by the contract to stand idly by and watch, not even able to avoid Bradford's attacks as his family defends him. After reading the contract thoroughly, Louie comes to the conclusion that there is one major flaw in it. It says that Scrooge can have his family as long as he never adventures ever again, but the kids remember their family's old saying, that "family is the greatest adventure of all". Despite Bradford calling it stupid as he worked on the contract for 30 years, the Papyrus obliges and disintegrates along with the rest of the contract, freeing Scrooge from its binding, while Bradford becomes depowered. As all the heroes surround Bradford, Magica, Glomgold, and the Beagle Boys appear to take their revenge on him, with Magica turning Bradford into a non-anthropomorphic vulture and adopting him as a pet before they all leave.
Following F.O.W.L. defeat, Scrooge discovers that Webby is his daughter and suddenly begins exhibiting parental feelings for her. Scrooge and Webby share an emotional embrace, joined by the boys, Della, Donald, and Beakley. Donald is implied to plan to adopt June and May and plans to bring them with him and Daisy on their trip. Fenton and Gandra are reunited and kiss, while Darkwing, who spent the whole episode not realizing that Fenton is Gizmoduck, suddenly believes that Launchpad is Gizmoduck and Gyro fixes B.O.Y.D.'s body. Scrooge decides to do whatever it takes to protect Webby as his own daughter. As everyone happily flies home from their adventure, Launchpad accidentally opens the back of the plane, causing everyone to get sucked out. Over the credits, all the characters fall with style, as the plane crashes into the DuckTales logo, ending the series.

- This 3-parter contains 3 sub-episodes, each with their own stand-alone title, including: "Part I - A Tale of Three Webbys!", "Part II - The Lost Library of Isabella Finch!", and "Part III - Tale's End!" (the effective series finale).
- There is no theme song. Instead, the DuckTales logo appears when Webby jumps from behind the Happy Birthday banner at Funzo's, as an instrumental version of the theme plays in the background.
- When aired as three separate episodes, Part 2 also has no theme song, as the DuckTales logo appears after Donald takes off his bow tie and says "To Adventure", while in Part 3, the title screen briefly appears after the scene when Bradford revealed that Webby was created to help him defeat Scrooge McDuck once and for all.
- The first half of the episode is set during Webby's birthday, while the second half explores and reveals the missing details about her birth, and better yet, her origins.
- The robotic crab at Funzo's (which also had security cameras used by F.O.W.L.) resembles a blue version of Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.
- The finale shows Huey, Dewey, and Louie each have dark counterparts; Bradford (if Huey let adventuring traumatize him), Glomgold (if Dewey completely lost touch with reality in scheming) and Doofus Drake (if Louie left his greed and apathy unchecked).
- This is the second and final time in the series to have the storyline told in a three-story episode arc after Season 2's "Timephoon!", "GlomTales!", and "The Richest Duck in the World!", which focused on Louie, and on how the events of his scheme in "Timephoon!" would eventually lead him to briefly becoming the richest duck in the world.

- The Gargoyles theme plays as Manny transforms. He even shouts "I live again" in homage to the show.
- Manny is voiced by Keith David, who voiced the main character Goliath from the aforementioned series and previously used the similar phrase "We Live Again" in the opening sequence.
- As Bradford first uses his originally chosen name for Webby, telling her "Welcome home, April," he does so with Black Heron, the three girls' effective mother figure standing by his side, and behind the three clones. Heron, incidentally, is voiced by another April: April Winchell.
- It would make sense that Webby is April in the series, for Webby was originally based on April, May, and June, Daisy's Nieces.
- Both in meta reference to the series' interwoven storylines and the thirty-something-year legacy of The Disney Afternoon, which the show has incorporated into its narrative throughout its three seasons, Bradford tells a tied-up Scrooge during his villain exposition scene, that "Just in the past thirty years, we've seen hyper-intelligent rodents, caped crusaders, flying bears, bouncing bears, living statues, and a veritable troupe of goofs, misfits, and adventurers." During the speech, he shows a prepared slide show of images referencing the various connections from previous episodes, including all of the above linked shows, as well as Bonkers, the Quack Pack episode (which also heavily referenced DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp), and a whole bunch of old and new DuckTales characters (including Donald's Mikey melon).
- Professor Ludwig Von Drake is revealed to still be alive in this episode. He explains that he didn't die because F.O.W.L. kept him so busy that he didn't have time for it.
- It is revealed Bradford was the one who told Della about The Spear of Selene, leading to her crashing on the moon.
- Della's disappearance was his first attempt to break up the McDuck family.
- This also confirms Bradford is the main antagonist of the reboot series, who was responsible for Scrooge's family rift, and also was indirectly responsible for both Magica De Spell's revival, which was made easier for the Magica-controlled Lena to get to Scrooge due to Scrooge's family abandoning him because of the rift, and General Lunaris' invasion because of Della being trapped on the moon.
- Bradford's line referring to Scrooge as "only a poor old man" is a direct reference to a Carl Barks story title from the Uncle Scrooge comics of the same name.
- When Huey, Dewey, and Louie are tied up, hanging upside down, the scene visually references a scene from the pilot episode "Woo-oo!", where Huey, Dewey and Louie first met Webby while tied up.
- There are many references to the first episode, including Webby finding May and June locked away with a bag of marbles like she had the triplets and Donald and Scrooge addressing each other the same way they did when Donald dropped the boys off originally when Donald saves him.
- The revelation that Webby is a clone of Scrooge created by F.O.W.L., explains Webby's natural spy talents, her obsession with the McDuck family, and her Scrooge-persona in "A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!"; an alter ego that inspired the series' wrap party gift to cast and crew: a lapel pin of Webby as Scrooge.
- There are several nods to the original series.
- The F.O.W.L. Project 87, which Webby was created from, is a reference to the year it premiered, which is also when Webby's original counterpart was first introduced.
- Darkwing mistakenly thinking Launchpad is Gizmoduck, something which the triplets did in "A Case of Mistaken Secret Identity".
- Donald's desire to travel the world with Daisy on his houseboat due to his desire to travel the world, which was the reason why he joined the Navy in "The Treasure of the Golden Suns".
- This 3-part finale has the largest cast of characters in the show's history, though many of them do not have any dialogue.
- This also has the largest amount of voice cast involved, surpassing the Season 2 finale "Moonvasion!" which previously held this record (this episode has forty-one cast members, as opposed to "Moonvasion!" which had thirty-one).
- Silhouettes of Mark Beaks, Gabby McStabberson, Hack and Slash Smashnikov, Doofus Drake, Doofus' parents, the Bombie, King Honestus, Aletheia, Vero, Black Arts Beagle, Gavin/Tenderfeet, Zan Owlson, Miss Quackfaster, Downy McDuck, Fergus McDuck, Matilda McDuck, Officer Cabrera, Faris Djinn, Roxanne Featherly, Gibbous, Gene, the Harp of Mervana, Dr. Akita, Amunet, Johnny, Randy, Jane (who also appears physically at the beginning of Part 1 with no dialogue), Timmy Jenkins, Clown, and a dog (among many others) can be seen in the prison cells.
- Kit Cloudkicker, Molly Cunningham, Goldie O'Gilt, Santa Claus, Strongbeard, Zeus, and Selene can physically be seen, but have no dialogue.
- This is one of the few episodes in the series not to use the end credits, following episodes like "Last Christmas!", which used a new song and different visuals, as well as other episodes like "Who is Gizmoduck?!", which exchanged the end theme with a song previously featured within the episode.
- This final installment is set to an extended instrumental version of the theme, a more cinematic credit crawl is used instead, while the visuals show the characters falling from the sky (and being saved) in style, after getting sucked out of the Sun Chaser, a scene very similar to what the season 3 poster showcased.
- When split into three episodes, the end credits are used for the first two parts.
- In celebration of the series' conclusion, this episode was run multiple times on Disney XD in a 24-hour block when it first aired.
- The episode premiered after Disney XD aired a similar DuckTales marathon, airing all of the series' past episodes in concession, which lasted an entire week, between the release of the series' penultimate episode, "The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck!", and this episode.
- This is the second and final episode in the series to do this on its premiere date, following the series pilot "Woo-oo!".
- When Dewey kicks Bradford on the face, it is a reference to Randy Cunningham as The Ninja with his ninja kick from Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. They are both voiced by Ben Schwartz.
- Launchpad is the last character to speak (not counting everyone's screaming) in the series: "Whoa! Alright! That was close Launchpad, Phew, Almost ruined the tender-family moment" was the last line. Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby were the last characters to be seen, and Scrooge's Number One Dime is the last item shown, before the final shot of the Sun Chaser crashing into the series' logo.
- Darkwing, Gosalyn, Gizmoduck, and Launchpad fighting Steelbeak is a nod to the original Darkwing Duck series, as Darkwing, Gosalyn, and Steelbeak debuted in the series, while Launchpad and Gizmoduck appeared prominently throughout the series.
- Among the notes and drawings in Isabella Finch's original Junior Woodchuck Guidebook is one of Bill Cipher.
- Because Disney Asia ceased operations for most of its channels (let alone Nat Geo & Nat Geo WILD), this is not only the final DUCKTALES episode, but also the final movie to air on Disney Channel Asia.
- The scene where Bradford reveals to Scrooge that he's the one who's responsible for Della's disappearance is similar to the scene where Scar reveals to Simba that he's the one who killed Mufasa in The Lion King. However, both Scrooge and Simba angrily attacked both Bradford and Scar in rage after the reveal, but Scrooge failed to gain the upperhand on Bradford unlike Simba successfully did on Scar.
- The background music in this episode where Bradford sinisterly revealed to Scrooge that he's responsible for Della's disappearance is ironically the same background music in the episode "Let's Get Dangerous!", where Bulba tries to prevent Gosalyn from destroying the Ramrod so he can remake all reality.
Goofs[]
- Unless Bradford planned to live eternally with fountain water, his plan is truly short-sighted. As given, he's only likely got a few decades left, the chaos he hates would return as F.O.W.L. would cease to be, and he would have nobody left to enforce order once he passed away. Though it's not impossible he's gone insane over the last 60 years and can't think rationally beyond his grand plan to eliminate the McDucks.
- Bradford could not have possibly captured everything "adventure"-related since there is still so much undiscovered in the world that could easily evade F.O.W.L.'s gaze. This is especially true when it comes to other aliens, magic users, and other dimensional beings that are not connected to the McDuck Family. So ultimately, his plan was still incomplete, if not a failure.
- Technically, Bradford Buzzard breaks the signed contract the moment he attempts to throw Scrooge's nephew Donald into the Solego Vortex in order to eliminate him from existence. The document states, according to its author, that Buzzard would "allow [Scrooge] to return home with [his] family to live out the rest of [his] days, as long as [he] agree[d] to never adventure again." Since Scrooge had already agreed to and signed the contract on the Papyrus of Binding, and Donald is an undeniable part of his family, his supernatural shackles should have immediately broken off and set Scrooge free again. Donald is merely saved by Gyro, Ludwig Von Drake, and Gandra Dee, all turning off the Solego Vortex just in the nick of time before he falls through; though this fact does not undo Bradford's act of self-described "petty villainy", nor does it relieve him from having broken the contract. Though, the contract did not technically say that "all" of Scrooge's family would get to survive. It is also possible that Donald was merely saved because of the contract itself but it is rather unlikely since it did not change the reality but was about to happen anyway.
- Even if one would argue with Bradford's own spoken words that the contract on the Papyrus of Binding is "legally and mystically unbreakable" (theoretically relieving him from any responsibility to hold up his own end of the bargain, despite his attempt to eliminate Donald from existence while promising his "return home", something unattainable, and therefore a contradiction in itself), this very claim is later contradicted by Huey, who points out that "the only way to break the Papyrus' spell is to find a contradiction on the Papyrus." With that established, all that anybody would have had to do in order to free Scrooge from his shackles would have been to point out that Bradford's own actions had already presented the necessary, contract-breaking contradiction. Instead, the writers understandably ignored legal logic, and chose to drive home the show's continued message that "family is the greatest adventure of all."
- In his slide show, Bradford shows photographs of characters and situations from events that occurred throughout the series, however how he received those images remains unknown, as no one was seen capturing them.
- When Gosalyn and B.O.Y.D. arrive to assist Launchpad, Fenton, and Darkwing Duck against Steelbeak, after jumping down, B.O.Y.D. was on Gosalyn's right side, but when the scene shifts when B.O.Y.D. starts talking, he is seen standing on Gosalyn's left side.
- When the group cheers after Magica turns Bradford into a non-anthromorphic vulture, two versions of Penumbra are seen in the crowd.
