LEGO Indiana Jones is a LEGO theme that is based on the franchise of the same name. The theme was initially released in 2008 to coincide with the original release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with additional sets being released to tie-in with the previous installments in the franchise, and ended the following year in 2009.

However, eleven years after The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion USD in 2012, Disney and The LEGO Group revived the theme in 2023, with the release being set in April of that same year, in-anticipation of the then-upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which released two months later. However, sets released during this wave were once again focused on the older films, including Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.

More information regarding the games, as well as hints for The Adventure Continues, can also be accessed via the Disney Games and Apps Support website.

Trivia[]

  • One of The LEGO Group's most successful earlier themes, LEGO Adventurers, was heavily inspired by the Indiana Jones series.
    • Interestingly enough, the theme's main protagonist, Johnny Thunder, previously appeared in Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group's 2014 CGI animated film, The LEGO Movie, which also briefly featured a few notable characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, with its inclusion of Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon (although they did not appear in the same scene together). What makes this ironic, however, is that Johnny Thunder was inspired by the character of Indiana Jones, and while the latter does not appear on-screen (although he was initially intended to have been included as seen in the film's original script when the project went by its earlier prototype name, LEGO: The Piece of Resistance), another Lucasfilm Ltd. property, did however, appear in the final film, being the aforementioned Star Wars franchise.
    • Warner Bros. Interactive previously developed LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues through their Traveller's Tales subsidiary.
  • Indiana Jones was previously included as a playable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga to promote the then-upcoming release of LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, which is a feature that was kept in Disney's digital re-releases of the game.
  • Unlike all post-2015 releases of LEGO Star Wars sets, the Disney logo is omitted from the packaging of every 8+ set in the theme, although was retained for 77015: Temple of the Golden Idol, which is the only 18+ collectors set from the line.
  • 77013: Escape from the Lost Tomb includes cameos, albeit in the form of hieroglyphics, from another Lucasfilm Ltd. property, featuring depictions of minifigure forms of R2-D2 and C-3PO, as well as cameos for some of The LEGO Group's own original properties, such as the Kanohi Kaukau mask from Bionicle and the Devestator icon from Exo-Force.
    • The Star Wars cameo, however, was originally featured in the film that the set is based on, Raiders of the Lost Ark (albeit not in minifigure form), and a similar cameo appeared in the original 2009 set that this set serves as a remake of.
